`Lettere Patent o. 94,954, dated September 21, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT :1v WASHING-MACHINES.
The'Sch'edule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part offthe same.
To all whom .it may conce-rn:
`Be it known that l, J. T. GREENWOOD', of Beloit,
i of Rock county, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain, new and useful Improvements in Washing-Machines; and I do hereby declare the following descriptiomand accompanying drawings are suioient` parts. y Letter A represents the frame or box.
`B, the Aadjustable larger roller, provided with the `crank b, which roller is attached to-the-pivoted levers C C, by suitable boxes, in which it is rotated by the said crank b. l v
D D are smaller rollers, pivoted to and revolvingl upon the inner ends of the springs d d, provided for that purpose. H- H is a revolving apron, passing around the rollers D D and guard-rollers E E, the apron H H being v j l actuated and carried `by the roller B, when -in use, which, as well as the rollers D D, are covered with canvas, or other suitable material, rendering their' surfaces partiallyelastic, and also supplying' greater friction for carrying 'the clothes back and'forward on the apron H, which is elongated by passing around the guard-rollers E E, and thereby forming a sortof platform for-sustaining the clothes at each side of the rollers while being washed.

The arrangement of the levers C C, in combination 1 with the covered rollers B and D D, guide-rollers E E, and springs d d, when constructed and connected as shown and described.
