T0 all whom it mag; concern Be it known that I, BOYD ALLEN, of England, residing ab Boston, in ohe count 'y of Snfiolk, an d State of Massachnsetts, have invented an Improved Gas- Heate1 Burner; and I do hereby declare that the following, takten in conneotion with the drawings wl1ioh accompany and form pzu*t of this specifieation, is a descripfiiox x of my inven tion sufi1cient to enable those skilled in t he art; to praotise it.

My invention relates to tho oonst-ruction 0f that dass of gas-burners nsed for burning a mixture of oornmongas with air, 1"01' producing heat, ns in gmsstoves and otbex gas-hea-ting devicos;

My invention consists in oombining w'rth a cornmon illuminator gas-bumer, a tube o1 shield, which, surrounding such burner has, ab its lower end, 01' helow 1:he bUl'l16P-0I'ifi8, an enlarged air-receiving chambel, and at it-s upper end 01 above the burner-orifioe, a oontraoted air und gas-tube 01' ehimney, at the top of whioh t-he combined aixand gas are bnrned for produoing heat.

a denotes an ordinary {ms-burner, having the tip or jet-tube b a its upper end, anda sorenr-thread, c, a.t; its lower end, the latter being f0r attaclnnent; of the Immer t0 a gas-pipe 01' cookl Near the lower end of the tobe a is a ring o1 flange, d, upon whioh is supported an air-chambe1 tube, e, a.s seen at A.

At bottom, this ohaunber is made muoh larger than the gas-tube, and opens through the ring d, as seen a1; f, so as to permit tlie freest entrance of air into the charnber from below.

As the ohamber extends toward the top of the gastip, it oontraots, lc:wing around the top 0f the tip a nzurrow air-Passage, y, between the air-chamber c, and

the air und gus-chnmber h above it.

'lhis vertical 0hzunber or chimney h is but slightly, if at all huger-thnn t-l1e jeb-t-ube, and is of considerable height, als soun ab A.

'lhe air-clxmnbor tube e is shown as npplied t0 the ring (l by mea-ns 0f a screw-joint, i, but it may be hinged to the fing, or simply slipped upon it by a ground joint.

By.making the air-t-ube thns removable, the jet-tube may be used as a oommon Immer for burning the gus fox illn1ninmt-ion, being chzmged into a hent-genemtor bnrner an any time, by simple attaolnnent of the nirchamber tobe.

I claim a gas-heater tobe 01 b urner hzwing the airolmmber e, chin1ney 71, und orifices f, all arranged relatively to the jot-tube, substantiallyas shown und described.
