ALFRED WILKIN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
GARMENT-HANGER.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED IL'KIN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, New Brighton, borough of Richmond, in the county of Fichmond and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Garment-Hanger, of i-rhich the follow ing is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to garment hangers, and more particularly to such as are provided with resilient means whereby articles of clothing, such as trousers, skirts or the like, can be securely attached, and which also serve to support a coat or waist so as to give the proper hang to such a garment.
The object of the invention is to provide a device of the class'described, simple and serviceable in construction and inexpensive to manufacture, i'lllCll serves to support a number of articles of clothing, and which in general consists of a hanger bar adapted to support a coat or waist, and a resilient clamp secured to the hanger bar, this clamp bein adapted to support trousers, or the like, between its two lower portions, which constitute the clamping members of the device.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying dra. ings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
Figure 1 is a perspective view shoving an embodiment of my invention; Fig. 2 is an enlarged cross section on the line 22 of Fig. 1 and Fig. 3 is an enlarged, inverted. plan view.
In the specific form shown in the drawings, I provide a hanger bar preferred form, to which is secured a hook 2 hereby the bar may be easily hung. Constructed of a single clamp 3, of any suitable material, such as spring 1 ire or the like. This clamp consists of substantially vertical or upwardly disposed members 4 and elongated clamping members 5, the latter having their extremities 6 formed in outwardly disposed loops or entrance members, so that articles of clothing can be easily drawn between the clamp ing members to be hung in place.
As shown most clearly in Figs. 2 and 3, the vertical members 4 are suitably arranged to bring the clamping members 5 opposite each other for securely clamping the garment between them throughout their length. F ur- 1, of any common or member, is a resilient Eapecification of Letters Patent. Application filed October 16,

ther the vertical members 4 pass over the hanger bar 1, being secured thereto by means of staples 7 or the like, and extend a suitable distance below the hanger bar to give the necessary resiliency to the clamping members. The adjustment of the clamping members 5 can be made by moving the staples 7 on the vertical members 4 and redriving the staples.
It should be understood that I do not limit myself to the particular construction shown in the drawings, as others equally advantageous may be employed without departing from the spirit or the scope of the invention.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A device of the class described coinprising a hanger bar, a clamp formed of a single elongated member, said clamp consisting of clamping members and upwardlydisposed members, the latter being adapted to pass over said hanger bar, and staples for adjustably securing said upwardly-disposed members to said hanger bar to vary the tension of said clamp.
2. A device of the class described, comprising a resilient clamp constructed of a single member and adapted to support an article of clothing, said clamp consisting of clamping members and upwardly disposed members, the latter being adapted to pass over a hanger bar, and means for securing said upwardly disposed members at said hanger bar, said means being adjustable to vary the tension of said clamp.
3. A device of the class described, comprising a resilient clamp constructed of a single member and adapted to support an article of clothing, said clamp consisting of clamping members and upwardly disposed members, the latter being adapted to pass over a hanger bar, and the former terminating in outwardly disposed loops, whereby articles of clothing can be drawn between said clamping members to be hung in place.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ALFRED WILKIN. Witnesses:
