Letters Patent No. 92,820, dated .Tu-ly 20, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN OIL-Cl The Schedule referred ton these Letters Patent and making pari: of the same,
reference being had to the accompanying drawing,v
forming. part of this specification.
lhe drawing represents a perspective AView, partly in section, ofmyimproved pocket oil-can.
This invention relates to an improved oil-can for hibricating-pnrposes, so constructed that it can he readily carried in the pocket of a person, to be used when required, without soiling or tearing said pocket, or otherwise injuring the garments, or soiling the hands of the party using it.
The invention consists in providing the shank of the nozzle with a left-hand screw-thread, by which it is secured to the body of the can, and with a1ight-hand screw-thread to receive the nozzle-cove'n'ng cap, so that when the cap is removed, there will be no danger of also unscrewing the nozzle.
A, in the drawing, represents the body of my improved oil-can;
B, the nozzle; and
C, the cap ofthe same.
The body A is made of one or more pieces of sheetmetal, and is of oval or spherical form, or otherwise rounded, so as not to present any sharp corners or edges.
'lhe shank ay of the nozzle has a left-hand screwthread, to fit the mouth ofthe body, in which a corresponding female-screw thread is provided.
On the upper part of the shank is also provided a right-handcrew-thread, b, to receive the cap G, in which a corresponding female-screw thread is yprovided. Thus, when the cap is put on, the end of the nozzle will be protected, -so that no oil can-dropout ofthe can.
Then the cap is nnscrewed, the nozzle will not be removed with it, owing to its diierentleft hand-screw thread. l
This implement will he very convenient for :velociperle-riders and other persons requiring to carry an As a new article of manufacture, the pocket oil-can,
when the shanka of its nozzle B is provided with the left-hand screw-threadfitting into a? corresponding female-screw thread in the mouth of the body A, and
with a right-hand screw-thread, b, adapted to receive the cap O in which a similar female-screw thread is formed, all operating as described, for the purpose specified.
