IMPROVEMENT IN ATTACHING- PEN-'RACES TO INKSTANDS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making `part of 'the sameA Be it known that I, C. A. ROBERTS, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven, and State ot Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Pen-Rack for Inkstands; and I do hereby declare the following, when v taken in connection with the acdompan ying drawings,

Thisrinvention relates to au improvement in-V racks for holding writing-pens, the object being to combine a rack with the inkstand, so that therack may be rigidly attached thereto, but constructed so as to be adjustable to different-sized stands; and

The invention consists in forming the base ofthe :stand `so 'as to partially surround the neck, and the hase provided upon one side with an inward projection, and upon the opposite side with au adjustable `hinding-screw, the said projection and screw acting together, to rigidly bind the stand.

` g In order to the clear understanding of my invention,

I will fully describe the saine as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

A is the base of the stand, formed with a circular recess, B, so as to extend more than half way around the neck of the iukstand, the inner edge provided upon one side with a projection, a, and upon the opposite 4side with a set-screw, d, so that when the said neck is set around the base of the stand, as denoted in fig. 2, (the neck ofthe stand being denoted in red,) the projection a grasps the neck in front -oi' a centreline, and thus tends to draw theshase on, and firmly secure it to the neck, taking a bearing at the projection, and at the screw, and also at the back.

From the base, A, standards C eritend upward, of any desirable form or configuration, upon the projections of which the peus are placed.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A. pen-rack, having the base constructed with the projection a and set-screw d, so as to be arranged uponA and secured to the inkstand, in the manner and as herein set forth.
