IMPIOVED DOOR-PLLEY.

The Schedule z e'fen'ed to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN REISER, of Trenton, in

` thecount-yof Mercer, and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement' in Door-Pulleys; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description, of the. same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 represents a door secured by my device. Figure 2 represents an upper section of the weight. Figure 3 shows a perspective View of my improvement.

This invention consists in attaching, to the sliding weight on the inner sideY of adoor or casing, a thumb or set-screw, which operates on a slide-bar, and permanentlysecnres the weight at any point on' the bar,

so that, when the door is closedit cannot be opened without loosening the set-screw, thus graduating the distance, and preventing the door from being opened wider than desired; and the door is secured by a chain o1' cord, one end of which is attached to the door or casing, and the other to the weight, obviating the nei cessity of a bolt on the inner side of the door.

d cl are caps at the upper, and near the lower ends of weight A, used for covering the cavities by which the weight is loaded or made lighter.

This thumb or set-screw, placed on the weight, and pressing against the slide-bar, will'effectually prevent the workingof the weight, and constitutes a permanent fastening when the door is closed, and more secnrevthan any loclg or bolt, as it cannot be picked from the outside. It can be placed on any part ofthe door or casing, and, when the. set-screw is turned against the slide-har, on any pointofthe bar, the door cannot be'opened wider, unless the .cord or chain is broken.

I am aware that Peter. Joseph Tillmann, of Trenton, New Jersey, obtained a patent, dated April 6, 1869, for the combination of the weight, slide-bar, swivelpulley, and cord. These I do not claim; but

What I. do claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The thumb'or set-screw B, applied to the weight A, when arranged, constructed, and combined as herein shown and represented, for the purposes set forth.
