Serial No. 421.5%.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, FRED Hirten', a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specilication.
My invention relates to that class ol hose supporters which encircles the leg above the ca and have a pendent end to which is at tached aclasp or hose-(rrip device for securing or supporting short or half hose and it has for its object to provide a simple, cheap, and eHicient sup orter of this class which will be washable an renewable.
With this end in view, my invention consists, briefly stated, in making a hose supporter of a single piece of suitable' material,
. preferably washable material, and in providing the same with metallic fastening, adjusting, and gripping devices all oi which are easily attached thereto and removed there from. l
ln the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a perspective view showing;- rnyimprcved hose supporter as it appears when in use and Fig. 2 is a perspective View ol' a similar hose sup porter showing the strap disconnected and the metallic parts detached therefrom.'
As thus shown, and in the form which l now consider best adapted for the embodiment of my invention, the strap or band l, which constitutes the main portion of the hose supporter and which is made of any suitable washable material, preferably' a woven fabric without rubber, is at one end folded over uponvitsolf and sewed down or 'other-` wise secured to provide a loop 2, for the insertion of the middle prong of the threepronged metallic clip 3, by means of which this end of the strap is adjustably secured back upon the strap to regulate its length, shown in Fig. l. For a portion ol its length, at its other end, the strap is preferably made narrower by folding` over and uniting its edges to form a flattened tube so that it can. be bent -sidewisc more easily and without puclrerinpr up, and this end oi the strap is also folded down and secured to itself to provide a loop 5 for the attachment of the metallic I hose-grip 6 the end of which is provided with an open slot 7 for the purpose. The clasp 8 by which the strap 1s secured around the legr is of the form patented by me 1n Letters latent No. 783,039, under date of February 21st,
"with two lateral clamping jaws.
i965, and, as therein fully described, consists oiu a back or body plate which is curved up and back at one end anda front plate which is hinged at one end to the upper curved end ot the back plate and irovided This clasp is adapted to its present use by forming the back plate with two lateral extensions or ears 9, at one end, and bending these ears back and around to form an open guideway for the strap and by providing, at the other end, an open slot 10 similar to that at the end ci the hose-grip by means oi which guideway and slot the clasp is adjustably secured to the outer strip oi' the doubled end of the strap.
ln making use of the hose supporter, the strap is passed around the leg, the narrow end is brought over into the hook formed by the curved back plate oi the clasp and the hinged iront oi' the clasp is -then swung down into locking position, as shown in Fig. l, and the hose-grip is secured to the hose.
rlibe advantages ol my improved hose,
supporter are obvious. Whenever the strap becomes soiled the metallic fasteners can be easily removed, the strap washed, and the fasteners then put back in place; and the metallic Jfasteners, which represent the greater part ci the cost of hose supporters of this class, vdo not become useless when the strap is worn out, but can be used for an indefinite length of time by providing or obtaining extra straps and substituting a new one 'for that whicn has been worn out.
While l have shown and described above what l now consider as the best Jforms oi' gripping, adjusting', and fastening devices ier usev with in v improved hose supporter, it will ol course be understood that other suitable and well known forms may be substituted in place oi' each or all oi' them and that other means may be employed for making them readily adjustable to and detachable from the strap without departing from the spirit or sacrilicing the advantages -ol' my invention. Such other modiiieations may also be made as l'all within the scope o'l` the appended claims.
l hat l claim is new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isf-- l. A hose supporter which comprises a strap and means dctachably connected therewith for securing one end of the strap to the hose and means detachably connected llo to the other end oi 'elle strap dnpted to engage en mtermedmte portflon el seid strep y heee end te otlzel' end :wound the leg.
and secure it around the leg.
2. A hose supporter which eonx rises e strep adapted to pass mound the leave a pendent end end ineens for ably securing the strep around the f for seeming its pendent end to the lose :L1-ll detachebly connected with seid strep.
3. A hose supporter which comprises a f single strap of Washable materiel adap ted *no pass around the leg and leave a to be secured to the hose and metallic .fasteners for adjusting the length of the strap, securing it around the leg ing its pendent end to the hose, ell (le-- taehably seemed to sind strep.
pendent end f and adj ust- 4. A hose supporter 'which com )rises a single Streu of Washable materie made man? n arrow et one end and detachable means for seeming the nml-onend. of alle strap to the hose supporter which comprises a Single Shop ol' washable material made narrow one end., :L detachable Clip for securing tloe breed end ol elle strep ba-ok upon itself Lo form en adjustable loop, a deg Leolmble hos/@grip for securing the narow end of ille stx-Lp to the hose, and e detacholesp for securing the looped end of the strep to the narrow polton thereof.
ln Witness whereof, have signed my neme in the presenee'o' two witnesses.
