The roller f is supported on the lower part of an olbon keeper f1 of wrought iron or ot-her'suitab e metal; the upper thicker part is attached by rivets f? to the side-portion of in the form of an'oblong-or rectangular frame attached at its up erpart to the saddle in the manner indicaibd and spaced from the saddle at its lower part, as shown in -Fig.4, so as to form a track for the roller f upon which the latter may travel lengthwise of the saddle.
The roller f travels only in -contactwith the track formed by the lower part of the oblong keeper and said roller is held on 4said track by the bail, the side-portions or legs of which pass downwardly l from the vroller opposite sides of the track, so that the latter is vstraddled from beneath bythe bail. When the stirrup is used in the usual manner, it is suspended by its strap bail and the roller from the stationarykeeper, at the side-portion ofthe saddle.'
