E E E E are the shovels, which are made fast to the beams a c a a by bolts, in such a manner that they scrape between the rows of corn, cleaning out all the weeds, and loosening the ground next to the hills of corn.
1) are the rods attached to the beams c a a a, and to the lower cross-pieces O G, and tongue D, and brace the same from each way.

When desired, the shovels may be thrown in such a manner that they run deeper, by loosening the bolt on the back of the beams 00 a, and dropping the'points of shovels down, and so may be adjusted in any manner desired.
