Description

P. SCHMIDT & A. DESGRAZ.
' GAS PRODUCER.
- APPLICATION PILEDJULY 16, 1907.

.PAUL scumr AND ADoIiPHE DESGRAZ OF HANOVER, GaiiM uY.
' eas-raonucnai Application filed I aly To all whom'elt may concern: A
Be it known that .we, PAUL subject of the Emperor ofGennan-y, and ADOLPHE DESGRAZ, a citizen ,otSwitzerland, residing at Hanover, Germany, have invented certain Improvements in Apparatus for Feeding Goal to Gas-Producers, of which the following is a specification, 1. i
The apparatus to which this invention re lates has -for its object, in 'gas producers supplied with coal by mechanical means,
whether arranged as single ap aratu's or in series, to enable the supply-o coal during the operation thereof to be adjusted in a very simple manner.
' The accompanymg drawing shows one constructional form of apparatus in accord.-
m ce with this invention, together with the upper partof a gas pr'oducerin section;
Coal is suppliedto the feed receptacle (1 from above through an aperture 22 and thereupon 'falls first through .the lower opening 0 which is of cylindrical form and arranged, concentrically with the gas producer, and then upon the distributerd which is rota ta'bly'arranged in the well known manner at a certain distance below the opening 0. The distributor 0? may be attached by means of several'arrnse to a rotatable casing' g, the lower part of which is immersed in a circular water trough h and the upper'pait, of which is constructed to form a trough i for the reception of water. this trough into which thereprojects a stationary flange 'w which forms a seal there is attached an angular ring A: the lower part of which runs on rollers Z and the .upper part of which is provided'withteeth with which there 'engages the ratchetmechanism f. The rollers Z are connected with supports m which carry the upper portion of the feed apparatus.
In the lower cylindrical opening 0 of the feed apparatus a there is suspended from a spindle g to be freely movable by means of the arms 0 a hollow cylindnicahbody n, which can at anytime be easily raised or i Specification of Let-m rat-em.

of the cylindrical body. thedistributer d beingthuscap'able of being increasedor diminished as desired. The
means, such for instance, as lever mechanism. As all the coal must pass through the' coal passing into the gas producer will depend on'the size of the space-between the distributer d and the cylinder 11.; and that as in apparatus,constructed in-accordance with the present j invention the size of the space may be easily and quickly changed at any time without'iriterfering with the operation of the apparatus the, object of the 1nvention, that is to say, the power of varyi ng-easily and quickly the amount of coal. supplied to a gas producer whlle the feed apparatus is in; operation and without changing the rate of rotat on of the dis- Having thus adescrlbed our invention,
what we claim and desire to secure by Letters-Patent1s:- f
.cylinder n may; however, be raised or low- 1 cred from the outside by any other suitable 1I1I181 opening of the cylinder n it isclear 1 that assuming the distributer (1 moves at a definite and constant speed, the amount of The combination, with a generator, and a hopper rigidly supported above the generav tor, -of a 'notary distributer mounted in the upper. end of the generator directly below the discharge opening of the hopper and having water-seal connections with both the generator and the hopper, means for rotating said distributor, and, a cut-off mounted in the discharge opening of the hopper and adjustable therein to and from the distributer. f
In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
