To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HANs J. llANSON, citizen of the United States, residing at Litchville, in the county of Barnes and State of North Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Blackboards for Partitions, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in blackboards and the like and more particularly to a novel-method for mounting the blackboard in a partition between two rooms whereby data marked upon the same in one room can be exposed to view in the opposite room.

This invention will be found particularly useful in railroad stations-where it is necessary to keep a train schedule constantly in view for the information of the public.

For a full understanding of the invention and the merits thereof and also to acquire a knowledge of the details of construction and the means for effecting the result, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a erspective view showing the application of t e lnvention; and, Fig. 2 is an enlar ed horizontal sectional view through the blac -board.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the followin description and indicated in all the views of drawings by the same reference characters.

The black-board is shown as mounted in the partition 1 separating the two rooms 2 and 3, whereby data placed upon the board in one room can be exposed to view in the opposite room. A frame 4 is arranged in the partition 1- and defines an opening within which the swinging frame 5 is pivotally mounted, the said swinging frame carrying a blackboard 6, both faces of which are designed for use. In the present instance, the frame 5 swings about a vertical axis and intermediate ortions of the sides of the same are engageLf by pivot bolts 7 carried by the corresponding sides of the stationary frame 4. For the purpose of holding the swinging frame 5 in normal position, the right and left edges of the same each have a spring strip 8 applied thereto, portions of the said strips being deflected outwardly and provided with openings designed to engage knobs or projections 9 upon the stationary frame 4. It will thus be apparent that the board can be tilted to expose the opposite faces thereof alternately to view in the two rooms and that data can be placed upon one of the faces of the board in one of the rooms, while the opposite face is exposed to view in the remaining rooms.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

A black-board for partitions comprising a stationary frame arranged in the artition, a swinging frame pivotally mounte within the stationary frame, a black-board carried by the swinging frame and having the two faces thereof exposed alternately to view upon opposite sides of the partition, spring strips applied to the edges of the swinging frame and having portions thereof deflected and provided with openings, and projections upon the stationary frame for engaging the openings in the said spring strips.
