To all whom it may emteer'nf:
Be it known that l, FREDERK'K MARG- GRAFF, residing ntfAngnstn, in the eonnty ot' l Broeken and State oi Kentucky, have invented :L new :nid improved Curtain-Fnstene'r, of whieh the `Following is :t speeiiiention.
My invention, whieh is in the nature of' :t fastening ineens for storni curtains for eerriages and other like vehicles, primarily has for its purpose to provide t fa-stoner of the elmrneter started of :t simple and eeonoinieztl Aconstruetion7 that een be readily manipulnted, and which will efl'eetnslly serve its intended purposes.
ln its generiey nntnre, my invention coniprehends :in improved form of blank from which n spring holding easingA or barrel is shaped, :t spring tension looking hook, operftble within the barrel and coin A)rised of a singiel wire bent lo shape, and linving ineens thereon, ndnptod to interloek with :L enteh on ein opposing enrlnin oortion.
.ln its more subordinate l'entnres my invention eonsists in eertziin details of construction :1nd peenlizn eoinbinntion oli parts, all of whieh will be. hereinafter fully explained, s ieeilienll)Y pointed ont in the appended e :xilns und illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in whieh:
Figure l, is n View that illustrates 1n v in.- Fie. 2, is n'perspeetive view ol' the easing, the slidnble loeking` inelnber, the sprintengaged thereby, the easing bottom beiner shown sepnirnvted, to the better illnslrnle nlernnl arrangement ol the ports. Fig. il, is :t perspmftive view ol' the. slidinpr or hook nlexnber, :1nd the arieh deviees enrried thereby the stationary hook deviee being also shown, in delnil. Fig. `ll', is n perspeelive View ol' the blnnk l'roin whieh the easing body or shell is l'ornied end, Fig. v5,
' shows the (ranch deviee as on the enrtnin and the (Intell receiver on the .slidnble wire member.
ln enrrving ont m5Y invention, l provide un olongz'tled easing' or shell l, that is struck np from :t lnetnllie blank sheet having; the. shape shown in Fig. Vl nnd which is it vllnl body 1U relatively to Vthe ends, whorlgiy, when bent np, its central. portion will hex e. i, seini eirenhir shope, the portions 13 iiornnng the sides 13 13" ns eleerly shown in lFig. 2 which together with Fig. Ael also clearly shows the Sides ss having prongs 'l5-3b .lor passing; tlnot 'the slots 2l in plate il) and through the enrt to eleneh thereon. The projeetion 'i2 hns iY outer end reduced in width ns at l2@ where d to provide n guide al lorextending between the, opposite members ol' the slidoble hook carrying device E presently referred to und guide slots@lx in the l'ront end of the easing ior the, passage oll the said opposite n'ienlbers of the seid device' 3, :is clearly shown in Fig. 2 by rel'erenee to which it will be also noticed that the snid slots al" und the position of the, seid device 3 lie in e. plaine below the exis ol the seini-eirenlzn portion of the easing or shell. for
the reason presently explained. Theblnnk t lios elongited shoulders between the control selni-eirenlnr portion and the sides l.%':`-l.3"' to l'orin n mir ol guides 1X to receivel the perfdlel xnenibers RUMBO of the hook (unifying deviee l hereinafterreferred to, and elem-lv shown in Figs l and 2 ol' the. driwfings.
The hook marrying device 3 is formed np to shape from n, single stent piece of wire, .it
having pnrollel members 3U--30 that pass through the slots rL :nid whose outer ends :tre bent tower-d @eeh other ond right angles :is at 3l-m31 to forni one ol" the end bearings for the eoilod or tension spring held within the sen'ieeirenhn' body of the Gesiner :ind whose front end 4() eiigztges the 'frontend of the easing ns shown.
The bottoni plete 2f) when litted on the shell portion proper lies llzttwise :Lgninst the lower edges ol' the slxel end forms also n llztt bearing lor the deviee, b to ride on. j
By arranging the several parts sd 'l'ztr :is deseribed, the coiled spring een be readily adjusted within thel easing freely netuntfnl :rnd guided by thel device 3.
rl`he wire pieee, of which the device 23 is formed, is bent up on itself inidwz'iy its length and nt zin angle to the pnrztllel nninibers'to forni n 'finger grip 32, :nid ed the neok ol' seid grip 32 the side nienibers ere enrved ontwdrdly` is et $53 to iorni .benrinpys to sent within :i enp slntped inolnber 3 ree-t s dimnetrien-llbv opposi'hf ,nds as :it 50m-5l to lit over the side members ol the devi@Y 'in the preini'red forni es shown in L' nnd, the hook (i ilioirrned on a {istt di by slitting the sinne and pressing the.
