Description

PATENTED JUNE 23, 1908.
G. A. PAISLEY. VETERINARY PORGBPS. APPLICATION FILED rm: 21 1908 No.89l,725.

OFFICE.
CARLTON A. PAISLEY, OF WINFIELD, IOWA.
VETERINARY FORCEPS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARLTON A. PAISLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Winfield, in the county of Henry and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inVeterinary Forceps, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in veterinary forceps, and the object is to provide jaws at each end of one of the handles and cups at each end of the other handle.
The invention relates to certain other novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a view in side elevation. Fig. 2 is a view of one of the jaws. Figs. 3 and 4 are views of the cups.
The handles 1 and 2 are preferably crossed and pivoted as at 3, the handle 1 having the forked jaws 4, 4, and the handle 2 having the cup 5, which has a central web 6, extending therethrough, which web lies between the ends of the forked jaw 4. The cup is open between the web and outer edges and at the forward end of the cup are teeth 7, 7, whereby a better hold can be obtained on the animal being operated on. The other end of the arm 2 has a rounded cup 8 and the forked jaw 4 is capable of being received within the opening. By the jaw 4, and the cup 8 the animal operated on can be grasped, and the jaw and cup brought together, and
the forked arm pressed against the body and the gripper removes it at once without any Specification of Letters Patent.

danger of harm. The jaw 4 and the cup 5 are placed around the head of the pig and by the teeth 7 it is impossible for it to slip when the jaw and cup are brought together, without causing any harm or injury to the animal.
It is evident that many slight changes might be made in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myielf to the exact construction herein set forth,
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A forceps comprising handles, forked jaws at each end of one of the handles, and cups formed at each end of the other handle, one of the cups having a circular opening therein, and the other cup having a central web and teeth formed along the edges of. the on i A forceps comprising handles pivoted together, one of the handles having forked jaws, and the other having cups with which the jaws cooperate, one of the cups having an opening therein, and a central web in the other cup, and teeth along the edge of said cup.
In testimony whereof I aHiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
