'At the opposite end `of the shank, a clas is formedv and in the construction shown in ig.
1, this isniadej'by bending the'wire around one or more times in the same plane, with the-tongue 8, thus formed and the outer ends t of the inside bend curved outwardly slightly to form a mouth 9 Whereb the clasp is made to'engage the edge of the s eeve opening from in thisA way, providing a device which will er1- gage. either edge* of the sleeve opening with equal facility, so-that each cuholder is a' A'either:s1d e, thus forming a-double clasp, and' n right and .left cuff holder so to speak, ca able, i
I,of being operated just aswell with one and as the' other, and so that itwill engage either.
dgeof the 4sleeve opening.
I Whilethe foregoing is a general descripl mond shaped, instead'of oval, as this seems tionof one form of my invention, it is perfectly .obvious that other forms might be used, and'foi' instance, the compound hook might beV made'of sheet metal as shown in Figs. 1() and 11, one end of. the metal forming this hook being secured to the shank by bendingjit around the end Wires thereof in any approved manner. Likewise, it'might be found convenient to bind a piece of metal laround the connection at the juncture `between the zig-zagshank and the compound hook, as shown in Figs'. 4 and 5.'
'It maybe found desirable to employ a single clasp in lieu of a double clasp for engaging the edge of the y*fabric forming the sleeve;
Such a `clasp is shown in Fi s. 8 and 9, and other forms are shown in igs. 12 and 13. The form shown in these two last gures consists merely of .a spring ring composed 'of two turns of wire.
In still anothei`- form, of the ciiif holder, I-
might find it desirable to use an ordinary A spring clasp such as shownin Fig. .16. 'Like- 14 and 1-5. v
In Fig. 17, I have shown a slightly modi- 40.
wise, the compound hook might be sli htly varied and instead of being composed o two leads of wire as shown in, the construction heretofore described, it might be made of one lead of wire, as shown in Figs. 6 and 7, with the extreme end bent upwardly to form a guard tongue and to facilitate the inserting ofthe hook into the button hole. Still another form is shown in which the V- extreme end of the Wire is bent outwardly at the rear of the compound hook to'form a guard 5 at the rear which'extends parallel with the guard tongue 4, as shown in Figs.
fied form'of shank in which the loops are diato be an obvious equivalent.
The foregoing are a few of many ossible equivalent constructions which might be shown and described and itwill be seen from what I have disclosed, th at a very ,simple and eifective invention is provided for the performance of the functions desired.
.Additional sli ht changes might be resorted to within' "t e sco e of the appended claims in the -form an` arrangement of the several parts described without departing from theI s' ii'it.. and scope of my invention, a'nd hence lpdonot wish to limit-myself to the exact construction herein set forth,"but:`
Having .fully described my invention, whaty I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters 1. As an article of manufacture,a cuff holder. comprising a fiat zig-zag shank having s ring loops opening alternately'in opposite irections and having constricted openings lto receive a button and fasteningl means located at each end of the 'zig-zag shank.
2. As an article of manufacture, a cuffl holder consisting of a shank portion comrising a continuous series of flat loops orrned lof a singlepiece of metal andhaving narrowed entrance o enings, adjoining loops opening in opposite irections, and'fastening ocate means at each-endof said shank portion.
'In testimony whereof I have signed .my
