Description

No. 890,098. PATENTED JUNE 9, 1908.
' W. F. ROBTTGER.
BOLSTER STAKE FOR SLEIGHS. AI'PLIGATION r1Lnn ux.a0.-,19oa.
\V 1 WITNESS I INVENTOR- Afforney WILLIAM F. ROETTGER, OF RONNEBY, MINNESOTA.
BOLSTER-S'IAKE FOR SLEIGHS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 9, 1908.
Application filed January 30, 1908. Serial No. 413,459.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. Ronr'r- GER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ronneby, in the county of Benton and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bolster- Stakes for Sleighs; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in bolster stakes for light bob sleighs, etc., and comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of the de vice shown as applied to a bolster. Fig. 2 is a detailed View of'the blank of metal from which the device is made, showing the strip before being bent to be applied to the bolster, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the bolster stake detached from the bolster.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a plate, preferably of metal, of sufficient thickness to afford rigidity. Said plate is bent at right angles along the dotted lines indicated by letter B, forming two flanges or wings C which have apertures C near their lower ends. Said wings or flanges serve as braces to reinforce the device and the apertures therein are for the reception of a bolt D which is passed through the registering apertures in said wings and also in the bolster. The lower portion F of saidplate is bent at right angles along the dotted line E at right angles to the upright portion and extends intermediate the wings as shown. Projecting from the portion F is a contact strip T which. is bent to form a brace and its upper end secured to the upright portion at T by riveting or otherwise, thereby securely bracing the device.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that, by the provision of a bolster stake made as shown and described, a simple and efficient means is afforded comprising a device made of a single piece of metal which, when bent as shown and described, will be thoroughly braced and afford. resistance to a heavy lateral ressure.
What I claim to be new is A bolster comprising an upright plate of metal which has its opposite edges bent to form wings designed to be fastened at their lower ends to the opposite faces of the bolster, a portion of the plate intermediate the wings being bent at right angles to the upright portion of the plate and designed to be held fiat against the upper face of the bolster, a brace strap integral with said portion of the plate intermediate said wings bent at an angle near its upper end and fastened to the upright portion of the plate, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM F. ROETTGER.
