To all whom 'it may concern Be it known thatwe., IVEs Soci/ILLE and Hmm H. SeovlLLn, of Oakland, county of Alameda, and State of California, have invented an Improved "Side- Hill Plow; and we do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawings are suihoient to enable any person skilled in the art' or science to which it most nearly appertains, to make and use tbe said invention or improvements without further inven` tion or experiment. Our invention relates to that class of plows known as side-hill plows; and

It consists in providing two mould-boards, one. to be used to convert it into a right-hand, and the other a left-hand plow.

The plows are operated independently, and are monntedon shafts, which stand at an angle to each other.

A and B are two mould-boards of a plow, blingV upon the two singularly-pinned axes a al, so that they can be raised or lowered, as desired.

The rods are bolted to the standard in front, and at the opposite ends they are upheld by two arms, b b, which extend out from the met-al bar- G snicientlyto allowthe plows, when lowered, to stand in the proper I position; p y

Arms c c are attached to the top ofthe inould-bonrd, and clasp 'the' rods d d loosely, so as to allow the mouldboard to be turned up or lowered, as desired.

The mould-board which is not in use is upheld by Vone of the hooks, c e, on the end of the 'lever C.

These `hooks are formed by splitting the end of the lever, and bendingr the separatepieces in opposite die motions, and lorniing their ends hito Nicks, one ot' which serves for upholding the mould-board on eachside.

ready to change the plowing side.

The bar G has one end secured in a slot in the heel ofthe landside F', and passes up through a slot in the rear end of the plow-beam; andthe handles K K are bolted to it midway between the beam and landside.

The advantages of this plow are, that. by carrying weight is evenly divided, anddoes not lall come on one side, as when theV mould-board is merely reversible. Neither does it interfere, in any way, with the plowing, as the person who holds the plow can see his furrow, and thusbe able to handle itbett-er.

Y'lhe mould-boards can be quickly changed, with little trouble to the person plowing. l

When it is desirable to Iuse a single plow, as on level ground, one of the plows, A 011B, may be quickly removed, by loosening the nut m, aftenwhich the rod a can be' removed with the plow, which is connected with .it, thus leaving` a single plow for ordinary work.

Having thus desciibed our invention,
