No. 896,866. A. G. SEGESSEMANN.
FOLDNG COOP.
APELIGATION FILED JUNE 7,1907.
A "ORNE Y drawing,- I
' My invention relates to improvements 1n` ARNOL) C. SEGESSEMANN, 0F NEAR AYAZONI, HSSOUR To all 'whom it' 'may concern:
Be it known that if, Annone Snenssr.-
MANN, & citizen of the Uniedotates, residing near Amazonia, in theeounty oi Andrew .and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding (loops, of which the following is e sp ation, reference being had therein te tl ing coop that theyshedl be simple, durable,v
and cheap in cost ol inanuisctureg-l attain these objects by the' mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which g Figure 1. vis a vertical section, out 'on the line X X seen in Fie. 2 siicwirnr the arts in erect position. Fig. 2. is top plan. Fig. is a vertical section, cut on the. line X, seen in Fig. 2., showing the perte in l'olde'd position. Fig. 4. is a vertical section, cut on the line YY, seen in Fig. 2., shewing the parts in erect position. Fig. an enlarged view, in perspective, showing one the i'our corner fastenings, securingI the in erect position. Fig. 6. is an enlarged. View, in perspective, showing one of the two side l'astenings,
I securing the parts in erect position.
My invention consists el the bottoni i, reinforced'by pieces 2, the two sides 3, secured byhinges 4, one side on each oi the strips 5, secured on bottoni l the ends 6, secured to bottoni l by hinges 7 pertition 8 L, ured to bottom 1 by hinges Q; the tivo sliding doors, 10 and 10a, each provid-ed with spring actuated latch pin 1l and il, respectively ndepted to Yengage ends by entering apertures 11", respectively, in the ends 3, ier holding said doors in closed position, together with four spring tempered metal corner fasteners, 12, secured to cover i6, each 'which is bivfureeted, and seid biiurcetions are each provided with a hook 33, and the exact length required', to bring seid hooks intoenn gagement with the @etch pieeesde, secured te ends 6 and sides 3, es shown, ier holding e ecconipanyv Specification of Letters Eatent.

Application .ileil June Y, 1907. Seria-L No. 37?,52-3.
nl top, sides, ends and bottoni, seeneely egether lin erect position, and also to bring id i3 into engegenient with the ling said ya securely together in folded two spring tempered inetel side fasteninge l2, their hools 13x, and catch pieces" and loa, secured and operated in the menne-r es corner astenings i2 and seine their inilory numbered garts.
in ration oi my invention, when in es seen in l, 2 and 4, the
. nti A, operator ,gr-ases the ree end of latch pin il, y@
and it until seid pin is disengaged frein end and is in the position seen at il, in f. i. aiterwhiclfi door l() is manually slid to the saine position as door ia', after whichl :owls are put in the eoop; after which' the' 7g descrioed operation of sind door is reversed,v thus securing seid fowls in said coop. Door l0@ is operated in the saine rnenner :is door i0, end the described operation oi said doens is reversed for the removal of said fowls from 3U said coen.
itvvill be seen from the foregoing, that the described fastener 2li is simple end inexpenid provides means by which saidv doors gaged i'roin their respective catch pieces`r 143' 9,5
ssid operator in similar manner, disengages side hooks 13', from their respective cetcl pieces "i452 citer which cover l is readily reinov irons sides 3 and end t5, which partit ui l' is r tcted' en hinges 9 to the p`osiice tion seen in 2y; then the two ends 5 are rotated n tneir `7, to the position seen in Fig. 3, sides 3 ere else rol; ted on their hinges el, to the position 1 Fig.
ln le is placed over th thus folded parte, With the corner lasteners 2, in register with catch I nieces it", after which pressure 1s applied1 upon cover i6, which causes tne sloped lower extremities of hooks i3 end it, to inove outfi '.10
ward and downward nest the hooked, ex
1 e i tremities of enten pieces i5 and l5, respee-\ o pieces l5, secured to bottoni fi, ,for 6 its niav ce 7operated witli utmost ease and rfi id 85 mn, in the follmving .mannerpn E; siterwhieh cover tively; upon which the elasticity of the greater Ila/rt of fasteners 12 and 12, causessaid hoo 12 and .12, to move into engage"- Inent with said catch pieces and 15a, respectively, thus securely holding'the parts together, in folded position. By the unbifnrcated part of fasteners 12 the cover 16 and parts beneath said cover are held in register and are prevented from shifting. l
it will he seen and understood from the foregoing, and by referring to Fig. 5, that the unbifurcated parts of fasteners 12 act as braces for the corners of eover 16 and sub stantially hold ends 6 and sides 3 together in erect )ositiong and by referring to Fig. 1, that the pie-ces 17, secured .to sides 3, act vas stops for, and prevent the upper edges of the ends 6 frein being forced inward; by referring to 1Figs. 1- and 2, it will be seen that the upper edge of partition. 8 passes between the two strips 18, secured on the under side cover 16, for holding said partition securely in erect position.
l am aware that folding eoops have been constructed, in which apartition and the ends and sides of said eoops, are rotated on lhinges from erect to folded position, and are secured in said positions by other devices e I seeeeo corners of said coops.
Therefore, what i elarm as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A folding eoo havin(r a foldable partition therein and fol able sides and ends therefor, providedvwith catch pieces 14 on said sides and ends; a bottom for said coop, provided with catch pieces 15 secured thereon 3 a lid for said coop and a fastener for each of the four corners of said lid, the upper portion of said fastener being adapted to act as a binding and as a brace for the corner of said lid and the lower portion of said fastener being bifureated, and each of said bifurcations being provided with a hooi( on the lower end thereof, adapted to engage said catch pieces 14, when said sides and ends are in erect position, and to engage said catch pieces 15, when said sides and ends are in folded position.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
