Letters Patent No.'89,(19, dated May 4, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAY-RACKS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that ALDEN O. BAYLEY, of Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun, and State of Michigan, invented a new and usefullmprovement in Hay- Racks; and that the following -is a full and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

The nature of this invention is so to construct a hay-rack, to be used upon ordinary wagons, that it need not be so high as those in ordinary use, thereby lessening the danger of turning over, and that will be so arranged as to allow the forward wheels of the wagon to cramp, in turning or changing direction, with ease, and without interfering with the frame of the hay-rack.
In order to accomplish this end, a rack may be constructed of ordinary form, with floor-timbers A extending from near the rear end of the rack, and meeting at the centre B, near the forward end of the rack, in which position said timbers A are sustained by diagonal braces B.
