Be it known that 1, PETER J OHN Anonrsr,
a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fireproof Doors; andI do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters 'of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in fireproof doors.
It is an object of this invention to provide a door of the class specified om rising telesco ing sections adapted to fold in opening wit a suitable space in the wall.
It is also an object of this invention to provide'a door in which each section is positively actuated in opening and having a ra-.
tio ofmovement such that all the sections are fully opened or closed simultaneously.
It is furtheran object of this invention to provide a door in which one of the'sections may be opened independent of the opening of the others. I
It isfinally an object of this invention to provide a very strong door,- simple in construction and operation and cheap to install.
The invention-relates to the matters here-- inafter described and more fully pointed out and defined in the appended claims.

For the purposeof actuating the doors a suitable cable C for manual engagement is E E, and E four of which telescope and are securedin suitable spaces in the wall on opposite sides of the door opening. Each section is provided with a bracket E journaled at the corners of which are track wheels 6 j which are supported on the tracks eee and 6 respectively. Suitable guides are provided for the bottom of each section.

Also if referred one of the doors may be provide with a glass panel therein as shown at B, Figs. 1 and 4, and many other changes may be made without departing from the principle of this invention and I therefore do not purpose limiting this application for patent otherwise than necessitated by the prior art.
I claim as my invention:
1. A fireproof door embracing sections adapted to be concealed within the wall, shafts journaled at each side of the door, differential wheels on each shaft, slotted guides for said sections, arms secured to each section and extending through the slots in the guides, chains or cables secured at its ends to the arms of the end sections and trained around a corresponding number of wheels, the other secured at its ends to adjacent sections and trained around the corresponding wheels, connected pulleys one secured-in the bight of each cable or chain, a weight secured thereto, a cable operativelyconnecting the shafts, a shaft journaled below oneof the aforesaid shafts at one side of the door, pulleys on said shafts and a cable trained around the pulleys adapted for manual actuation in opening and closing the door.
2. A door embracing sections, brackets sepermitting the same to open indemoving said sections at diiferent rates of speed in opening, means for opening one section independently of-the other sections and means for returning said opening means to normal position. i
' 4. A door embracing telescoping sections, mechanism for actuating all of the sections simultaneously to open or close the door and mechanism for releasing "one of said sections to open independently of the others and firmly securing the remaining sections from' opening.

In a door construction a plurality of tracks, door sections slidable thereon, cables for actuating the sections, weights for keeping the cables taut, manually operated mechanism for releasing one section to open and holding the other sections closed and means returning said mechanism to normal position.
8. In a .device of the class described the combination with tracks of telescoping sections, a bracket on each, wheels thereon adapted to support the section on the appropriate track, means for operating said sec tion at a diiferential speed and means unlocking one section to open independently of the others.
