JOSEPH E. PRATER AND RUSH S. PIERSON, OF KINGFISHER, OKLAHOMA.
STEAM-COOKER.
' Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 19, 1908.
Application fried April 1, 1907. 4 serial No. 365,847.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, JOSEPH E. PRATER and RUSH S. PIERSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Kingfisher, in the county of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Steam-Cooker, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to steam cookers and is adapted for cooking starch, potatoes, beans and other like articles and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts as hereinafter shown and described.
The cooker consists primarily of an outer tank within which is located a receptacle. The tank is provided with an inwardly extendingllange and the receptacle is provided with an outwardly extending` flange which is adapted to rest above the flange of the tank and form a steam tight `joint. The top of the receptacle is centrally perforated and a pipe fits loosely in said perforation. The lower end of said pipe is provided with an open ended laterally extending cylinder which is provided in its sides with a number of perforations. The said cylinder normally rests near the lower end of the said receptacle. The upper end of the tank is provided with a nipple and an elbow is arranged for slip joint connection with said nipple and said steam pipe.
In the accompanying drawing t-Figure `1 is a transverse sectional view of the cooker. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the lower end of the steam pipe used in the cooker The steam cooker comprises the tank l which is provided lat its upper end with an inwardly extending flange 2. The nipple 3 is located upon the flange 2. The receptacle 4 fits within the flange 2 and is provided at its upper end with the outwardly extending flange 5 which rests upon the lange 2 and forms a steam pipe connection therewith, The top 6 is provided with a central perfora l tion 7 through which the steam pipe 8 passes.
The open ended cylinder 9 is located at the lower end of the pipe 8 and said cylinder is provided with a number of perforations 10. The elbow 11 is arranged for slip joint connection with the nipple 3 in the upper end of the steam pipe 8.
From the foregoing description it is obvious that when the article to be cooked is placed in the receptacle 4 and that when the tank 1 is partially filled with water, and the receptacle 4 is inserted in said tank and the elbow 11 is connected up with the nipple and the steam pipe, that as steam is generated in the tank 1 it passes up through the nipple 3, through elbow 11 and up on through the steam pipe S out through the cylinder 9 into the article within the inner receptacle 4, and in working up through the article facilitates the cooking of the Same.
Having described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
A steam cooker comprising a tank, a receptacle fitting within the top of the tank and having steam tight connection therewith and being spaced from the sides of the tank the bottom of the receptacle being located in a plane at a level below the top of the tank, the space between the tank and the recepta# cle forming a water chamber, a steam pipe leading into the receptacle and terminating near the bottom thereof at a point below the level of the top of the tank and an elbow connecting said steam pipe with the top of the tank.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own, we have hereto aflixed our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
