LILLIAN B. HUNTINGTON, OF WYOMING, OHIO.
HOOK FOR GARMEN'IS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 19, 1908.
Application filed May 6, 1907. Serial No 372,034
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LILLIAN B. HUNT- INGTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Wyoming, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Hooks for Garments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of hooks designed to temporarily serve the purpose of a button or hook and eye, and the invention consists in the double hook hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hook embodying my invention; and Fig. 2 an end viewshowin the hook connecting two sections of fa ric, both views being on a scale considerably larger than the normal size.
A represents the hook and B, B, two sections of fabric which may be taken as two parts of a garment. The hook is preferably made of two strands of wire coiled to form a stem and with the ends of each strand curved to form hooks in planes at right angles to the length of the stem. The hooks a and a at each end have their points in reverse directions but substantially parallel. The hooks a on one side of the stem the upper side as shown-are parallel and point in the same direction, and the hooks a on the under side are disposed in like manner. In use the hooks a take into one of the parts to be united, and the hooks a into the other. By arranging the hooks in planes at right angles to the length of the stem so that the stem when in use is parallel with the line of union between the parts to be connected, a close joint is obtained,
and by having the individual hooks which take into one part of the garment at a substantial distance from each other the danger of tearing the garment is reduced to the minimum.
I claim as my invention:
1. A garment hook consisting of a stem with hooks at each end thereof disposed in a plane substantially at right angles to the length of the stem and in a reversed curve relatively to each other, substantially as and for the'purpose specified.
2. A garment hook consisting of a stem with hooks at each end thereof extending in like direction on each side of the stem, the hooks being disposed in a plane substantially at right angles to the length of the stem and in a reversed curve relatively to each other, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
3. A garment hook composed of two strands of wire coiled together with the ends of each strand curved to form hooks substantially at right angles to the length of the stem, the hooks at each end being disposed in a reversed curve relatively to each other substantially as and for the purpose specified.
4. A garment hook composed of two strands of wire coiled together with the ends of each strand curved to form hooks substantially at right angles to the length of the stem, the hooks at each end being disposed in a reversed curve relatively to each other and the hooks on each side of the stem in like direction, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
