Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 5, 1908.
Application filecl September 6, 1907. Serial No. 891.714..
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, (has E. illvsi e, residing at Bozemen, in the county of Gulls-tin and State of Montana, have invented s new and improved Combined lo'w'el Rack and Holder, of which the following it specificatio-n'.
My invention is an appliance adapted for hanging a. number of clean towels and for holdiw the soiled towels, and primarily seeks to provide appliance of this chsraotei, a simple and economical construction that can be readily attached to a commode, to
bath or :1Sl1 room Walls, and in such manner that the clean towels can be eesily detsched' therefrom singly and the soiled towels collected therein.
With the above other objects in view, my invention consists ofsn eoplis ce this character, made up, preferably of stout wire bent to the desired shape, whereby to form spring clemped towel supportin mom-- hers and a :Jesket like hotly.
In its more suherdinste fieetures, vention consists in certain details of com struetion, arrangement and eomhinetion oi parts, ell of which will be first desorihedi in detail, then be specifically pointed out in the leims reference being lied to the drawings, in
l, s. perspective view of my in- .l epplied for use. Fig. 2, is e perv a; of the main frame. Fig. 3, is e ereof, Fig. 1, is a transverse secnplete appliance.
l construction, my improved eppllenee 'eo iprises gener lly s main frame that is p erehly formed Wholly of stout wire and it is best up to such shape that wh n the per" assembled to rectzmgule'rlorm, l or holder A is pro vided, and from which a of clamping members B project for wrdly from the upper edge of the basket portion thereof, as clearly showniii "he drawings.
In 0 the appliance the top frame up from :1 single piece of stout Wire, one end, ,that is, the beginnirs end, of which is soiled to form on eye 0 to receive e hook c as shown In shaping the first bent up at right on tren.-- verse end nmmhe'r 1 sud it is th e11 bent again at right angles in 2. plane pm'ol my in formed on the opposite end the heel:
beginning portion thereof, clearly shown length of the basket portion, the said wire is repeatedly bent forwardly and hackwerdly in the horizontal plane of the top of the basket whereby to form a. series of -spring clamped. hangers B, from which point the said Wire is again extended, and then bent back at right angles to form the other end port-ion ilk-from which point it is again been at ri 'ht angles and in slinemeht with the beginning portion to which it is clamped in the manner clearly sh wn in the drmvings and heretofore ststed.
At the foul". corner angles of the Wire that forms the upper frame 0, the said Wire is bent into eyes 202O and 2(F 20, the rear eyes 20 being utilized to receive screws or nails for securing the well or other support, and also to receive ends 48 of the Usheped; end braces 4 which are also formed of stout wire and bent to the shape shown, the othel hook ends 40* thereof engaging with the front eyes 20-2(l of the upper frame wire, as shown.
At ti 1 angles, the end members 4 are also best up to form eyes 4-0 to receive the main hieces or bottom Wire rods 6-6, whose ends are hooked into the eyes 40.
7 designates stays in the nature of ligllt interlaced wire, the ends of which are wound about the main frame and which form the end and side closures of the basket portion of the appliance or device. The rear end of the bottom rod 6 is also centrally bent to form, an eye (it) to recei "e the fastening screw or supporting mail as shown. 4
From the foregoing, taken in connection with the drawing, the complete construction, the manner in which my invention is used and its advantages is believed will be readily op )erent,
' y reason of {ermin the main frame of stout spring Wire rod, the same retains its rigidity and also sustains the clamp hanger members in a properly projected position whereby to pendently sustain the towels which. can he readily pulled down from hotween the clamps.
By having the basket and hangers together the user hes the appliance placed always in, sight in' depositing the soiled towels, thereby avoiding throwing the Wet towels on the Hour, furniture, etc.
the appliance in place on Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As a new article, the combination of a towel hanging and holding appliance, which comprises a basket like body whose upper portion is formed of a spring wire red, one part of which is bent'horizontally outward to form a series of spring clamping members for pendently supporting the towels between them.
, 2. Asia new article of manufacture, the combination of a towel hanger and holder, which comprises a basket like frame having an upper rim formed of a single strand of spring wire, the front portion of said upper wire strand being bent outward in the horizontalplane of the basket top to form a 1 series of spring clamped members, ends each formed of a single wire strand bent to U- shape, whose ends interlock with the upper l frame, wire braces for holding the lower pori tions of the ends separated, and lace wire I closures that extend around the sides, the" ends and the bottom of the main frame 25 wires, as set forth. l ORA n MYERS.- -lVitnesses: I JUST-in M.
