UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAY E. RISK, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
CORSET ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAY E. RIsK, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corset Attachments, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an attachment for a corset adapted for use with a pin and skirtholder to secure the shirtwaist in place and to hold the skirt band in position.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a view of a corset provided with the device of my invention. Fig. 2 is a detail of the front steels to which my device is applied. Fig. 3 is a side view similar to Fig. 2.
In the drawings 1, 2, denote the front steels of a corset which are provided with the usual clasps and studs for fastening the corset about the body. As is usual in constructions of such articles these steels are covered with a suitable fabric.

pin then being secured in the catch. The skirt band is then drawn around the body and caught under the holder.
By this device I provide metallic loops for the in, these loops being secured to the meta flic parts. of the corset giving a firm anchorage for the pin and the skirt-holder. By utilizing two loops, one on each of the front steels, the skirt-holder is brought directly on the center line, and thus the skirt is held in proper position so that the center seam or line of the skirt will hang straight from top to bottom. Placing this hook to one side of the center and fastening it so as to allow it to tip tends to throw the dress out of line and give the skirt a twisted appearance.
I claim as my invention:
1. In a corset the combination with the front steels and the fabric covering therefor, of a metallic loop secured to each of said front steels, said loops being in alinement with one another and projecting through and beyond the surface of said fabric, and a skirt holder supported by said loops.
2. In a corset the front steels, fabric covering therefor, metallic loop members fixedly secured to said steels, the loops thereof extending through and beyond the surface of said fabric and being arranged in alinement with one another, a pin adapted to engage said lo ops, and a skirtholder carried by said pin, substantially as described.
MAY E. RISK. Witnesses:
