invented certain new and useful im rove- 4ments in Carrier Systems, of 'which tliie following -is a. s eciiication. V My invention relates to the control o trains of carriers, and is particularly edapted for use'in places where there is a source of Heretofore it has been customery to eniploy mechenicelly-connected trains of csrend travelin on n supcables, or other mechanical connections to a. small stesi-n engine which is placed with its boiler near the carrier system. In Fig. l, R represents thesupporting rail from which the carriers are suspended, and

The several carriers are mechanically connected by cou ilings O, end are also electrically connected y conductors c. On one of the carriers or buckets the hoisting motor is omitted, and instead a support isuiteble for an operator, is suspended from the cerrier. It will be seen that the hoisting motors in Fig. t are connected directly to a train-wire and are connected to the conductor 'I2 only through the trolley t2 on the operators car- Consequently, if the driving motors are arranged similarly to the hoisting motors, as shown in Fig. 4, the trolley tv2 could be omitted'on all the carriers except the operators carrier.' VSuch an arrangement is shown in Fili;r 5, in which only the operators carrier is provided with the second trolley t2. In Fig. 5 only the driving motors are shown,
the hoisting motors being omitted for the sake olsimplicity. In this arrangement of Fig. 5, the reversing of the ,motors is accom- Irglished by magnetically-actuated devices, as efore, but the motors, instead of being connected directly `to the `working conductors through their own trolleys are connected to A driving motor with its magneticallythe train-Wire c3, w lich is connected to they Working conductor T2 through the switch S on the operators carrier. This switch 1n this figure is arranged to vary the resistance adaptedV to travel t 'the train and connected to the actuating centosI direction of rotation byselectively operating the magnetically-actuated reversing switches. Obviously', many other modifications of the control system may be employed, and consequently' l do not desire to limit myself to the )articular construction and arrangement ot ,parts here shown, b ut aim in the appended claims to cover all modifications which are within the scope of my invention.
