M. M. STURM & J. SILVERSTEIN. CLASP.
APPLICATION FILED APR.2,1907.

- Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MOSES M. STURM AND JOSEPH SILVERS TEIN, OF YORK, N; Y.
CLASP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 17, 1907.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, Mosns M. STURM and Josnrn SrLvERsTEIN, subjects of the New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clasps, of which the following is a specification.
Our present invention is an improvement in the clasp or gripping device described and shown in our Patent No. 839,226 of December 25th, 1906 and has'for its object the better construction of the spring for moving the members apart and an improved method of holding the rubber button in the body of the clasp. We accomplish these results in the manner shown in the accompanying draw- 1 ing in which Figure 1 is a side view of our clasp closed; Fig. 2 a sectional View of the clasp open; Fig. 3 a top View of the clasp; Fig. 4 a front view of the clasp; Fig. 5 a back view of the 1 clasp; Fig. 6 a view of the spring and rubber button.
The clasp is formed with a body part 1 provided in the rear with means 2 for attaching it to the garment or hose supporter. Toward the rear of the body part the bearing ears 3 3 are formed with the eyelets 4 e. g The second member 5 is provided with an opening 6 and at its rear with pintles 7 7 for engagement with the rear eyelets in the ears 3, 3. This second member has a bent down rear part 8 which prevents its opening too far. The gripping lever 9 is hinged in the forward eyelets and when turned rearwards presses the second member against the body of the first.
Our improvement consists in forming the spring 10 with an apertured front end through which the rubber button 11 is laced. This button has a flanged base and wl ien the spring is in place the button is held by the flange betweenthe body and spring. Small ears on the edge of the body are bent over the edge of the spring holding spring and button securely in place. abled to use spring material for the spring and make the clasp members of other and more suitable material.
A clasp for hose or garment supporters comprising a body portion; a second aper tured member hinged to the body member;
a gripping member also hinged to the body member to press the second member towards the body member; an apertured spring secured to the body member at one of its ends and having the other end bearing against the second member; a rubber button extending through the aperture in said spring and heldv between said spring and body member in position to pass into the aperture in the second member when the clasp is closed.
In testimony whereof we have affixed our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
