In the drawings the platform A is supported on suitable frame work, 'and' has at its opposite ends drive-ways. At one side of theA platform, at the rear, is a supporting frameshaft A Work B carrying thereon a removable boxing B into which the lower end of the elevator or conveyer C extends, the same being conveniently mounted on its flight driving shaft one side of the boxing being cut away for that purpose. At right angles to the elevator is the drag D of any improved type having an endless conveyer therein. The end of this drag is let into the side of the boxing B and is held directly above the lower boot or end of the elevator, the drag standing at right angles to` the elevator. Suitable gearing, as for instancea sprocket chain b extends from the driving shaft A over suitable sprockets, one being on the shaft and the other being on the driving shaft of the drag. To actuate the endless flight of the elevator, conveniently I extend a transverse shaft A2 below the platform, mount the saine in suitable bearings, and couple the same with the shaft A by suitable bevel gears a, azfand on the shaft A2 is mounted a sprocket wheel a over which a chain passes over the sprocket wheel a4 on the driving shaft of the elevator.
In this connection l have also found it advantageous to providethe ends of the shafts A and A2 with squared ends with which the power driven shaft from a suitable horse power or motor can be coupled. ,As shown in thev drawings it'will be seen that the shaft i lextends the 'length of the machine and that both ends are provided with squared extensions so that I am enabled to couple the horsepower up with the machine at three different points, namely, to either end of the or to the end of the shaft A2. This is convenient as it permits the use of a machine in places where it would be inconvenient to utili-Ze the horse power were it permitted application to one point only,
ln constructing the parts of thc elevator and drag as above described, .l have found it. necessary to cut out a triangular section b from the side of the elevator boot or base so that the end of the drag will project su'llicientlv over the edge of the base of the elcvator. rThis small lcut out section fr* is adapted to be replaced and held in place by suitable straps such as fl, for purposes presently to bc stated. It will also be noticed by the above construction that the velevator stands parallel with the machine or platform while the drag stands at right. angles thereto, the power driven shaft being arranged to ac-` tua'ie th'e lliglits of both the elevator and drag. Should, however, the conditions demand that the elevator' be adjusted to n. point at, right angles to the platform, thi` construction which-l have above described will permit of such readjustment, with this varia- I;
tion; 'l`he boxing l may be conveniently re moved and a V-shaped portion fr* replaced to complete the continuity of thi` sides of the elevator, the elevator is then turned at right angles and bolted or secured by other suitable means in place to the frame B suitable sad-- dles B2 conveniently being employed. The driving shaft carrying the sprocket wheel for driving the flights of the elevator will stand parallel with theplatforinwhile the driving shaft of the drag is in the-position it formerly occupied. To transmit the p'ower of the shaft A to thc'driving shaft of the elevator I place on the former a supplemental sprocketl Wheel a5 over which the driving chain passes, after passing over the sprocket on the elevator, as shown in Fig. 7. The elevator is then supported in the usual way by aderi'ick or other means, and the parts are operated through the driving shaft. I
At the front ends of thev machine, site sides are the standards E, F, being somewhat larger in proportion than the latter and between these standards is the elevating frame G conveniently composed of parallel side bars and connecting end bars in a well known manner. To elevate and lower the elevating frame suitable cables c, j, are attached to bails connected with the ends of at oppothe frame, and pass up over suitable pulleysez, e3 mounted on the top cross-bars of the uprights. These chains are carried down between the vertical bars of the uprightsor standards and have their lower ends connected with suitable drums l, F mounted on the cross-shaft F2. By turningthe drums the chains are wound thereon and the elevating frame is moved up and down as the case maybe. To guide the elevating frame in its movement suitable rolls or wheels q are employed working against the outer faces of the side posts of the standards, as shown, which are carried by the elevating frame. By the above' arrangement it will be seen that 'when the -dumping'frame is. to be ele' vateditis only necessary-to adjust 'the lever K to'couple 'the larger sprocket' wheel J3 with the shaft J 5 thereby'reducing the movement ofthe shaft J owingito 'theidifferential sizes of-the gearing or sprockets. The worm' gear is thereby slowlynoved which action slowly or gradually winds up the elevating chains/and the dumping'frame'. This slow movement is necessary' and desirable so that' the contents of the'wagon will be discharged-v and simultaneously carried off by the 'drag and the elevator, the discharge from the wagon being'equal to-tliecapac1`ty ofthe elevator, `When-the dumping'irame is-to' be loweredthe shaftJ is shifted in anop osi'te direction and owing to the diiierentiai) of the gearing which are by that movement coupled, .frame is lowered very rapidly' but regularly, thussaving considerable time in replacing the wagonafter the load has been emptied. ,i v

A The lever 'K is' automatically moved initially and the shifting movement is completed by the operator. It will be understood that. while this part of the inventionas shown in the form described, is satisfactory, the same result can 'probably be accomplished by widely'dierent mechanism. It is this independent governing of the dumping fram-o which I belie've to be broadly new in this art.

I am aware that dump actuating mechanisms have heretofore been governed in their elevating movement by a trip which is struck by the elevating frame, thereby limiting the u movementof the dump, but as far as I am a vised I am the to actuate a trip, stopping and reversing means by mechanism actuated independently of the elevating frame or dump.'
Having thus described the invention what is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is 1; In a wagon unloading apparatus, the combination with a suitable support,r of an elevator removably connected therewith, a conveyor associated with the elevator, 1nechanismfor actuating the elevator and the conveyer, and meanswhereby the position of the elevator can be changed froma position parallel with the support to a position outwardly at an angle to the support and the converse relative to the convcyer and actuated in its changed position.
2. In a wagon unloading apparatus, the combinatlon with a platform, of an elevator arranged parallel therewith and mounted to be-adjusted outwardly at an angle thereto, a
drag arranged at an angle to the elevator,
means for driving the drag and the elevator, and 'means for actuating the elevator when the latter is adjusted outwardly at an angle to the support.
