IMPROVED KITCHEN-SAFE.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 87,266, dated February 23, 1869.

To all lwhom 'it may concern Beit known that I, JOHN M. KLINGENMEIER, of the city of Buii'alo, county of Erie, in the Stare of New York, have invented a new and useful Kitchen or Provision Safe; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in providin g a kitchen or provision safe with extending tables, flour-bin, fermenting-compartment, also a drawer, designed for the purpose of keeping crocks with butter, &c.,and a number of drawers for spices and other articles used as provision, the Whole conveniently arranged, so as to secure comfort to the housekeeper.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction.

I construct my kitchen-safe in appearance of a bureau, as plainly seen in the annexed drawing, which makes a part of this speciiication.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the safe. Fig. 2 is a front view of the safe, showing the top A raised and the sliding plates or covers B B moved out, so they may serve as tables. A piece is cut out at right-hand side, so as to show the flour-bin. l

A is the top cover. It is hinged t0 the safe, and has for its object to give a insh to the safe.

B B are two movable plates or covers. They are sliding in grooves. Said plates serve two purposes: flrst, to serve as covers for the flourbin and fermenting compartment; second, after they are moved out, to serve as tables, one on each side of the safe.

C is the deur-bin. The same is divided into two compartments by means of partition d. Said partition may be removed in case of only one kind of flour being used in a household.

D is the dough-fermenting drawer 0r compartment.

E is a drawer designed for the keeping of crooks with butter, &c. Said drawer is provided with ventilat-ion-holes e e. Said holes are on an angle for the better circulation of atmosphere.

F is also a drawer, provided with ventilation, as described in letter E. The four lower drawers are not designed for any particular purpose. In place of some of them a refri gerator may be substituted.

It will be readily observed that a kitchen or provision safe arranged and constructed as described will facilitate and ease the kitchenwork to a great extent. It will secure cleanliness and comfort, and also save room.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is- A kitchen or provision safe having the inner sliding covers and the several compartments underneath the same, including the drawers, all combined and arranged in the manner as shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
