To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, HAERrsoN MUoKEY and EUGENE ROBERTSON, citizens of the United States, residing at Triplett, in the county of Chariton and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Road-Scrapers, of which the following is a specification.

Our invention relates to machines used in making and improving roads and has for its object the provision of a machine having scraping blades secured behind a two wheeled drag by means of bars so constructed that the angle of the blades can be adjusted to suit the varying conditions of the work to be performed.

The construction and operation of our improved road scraper will be described in detail hereinafter and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in Which Figure 1 is a top plan view of our improved machine, Fig. 2, a side view, and Figs. 3 and 4 detail views of the drag bars.

In the drawings similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

Our improved road scraper comprises a drag consisting of an axle 1 having the wheels 2 journaled thereon. The scraper blades 3 are secured to the aXle- 1 by means of drag bars 4 and 5, the drag bars 4 being crossed, as shown, so that the rear and inner ends of the scrapers 3 are drawn by the bars secured on the farther side of the middle of axle 1. Bars 4 and 5 consist of a hooked portion 6 at one end engaging the perforated cars 7 on the back of the blades 3 while at its front end the bar is formed with a ring loop 8.

9 indicates bifurcated bars secured at the rear side of axle 1 and pivotally secured to bars 4 and 5 between the hooked portion 6 and the ring 8. i The ring 8 is provided with a series of holes 8 and the bar 9 is also pro vided with holes 9 to register with holes 8 to adjust the angle of the drag bars 4 and 5, and the consequent pitch of the blades 3 to suit the work to be performed.

13 indicates platforms removably secured to pins 14 on the axle 1 and having their rear ends resting on the upper edges of blades 3, said platforms being used by. the driver capable of adjustment in vertical planes, and

scraper blades secured to said drag bars, substantially as shown and described.

2. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, drag bars secured to said drag, scraper blades secured to said drag bars, and platforms removably secured to the drag and supported by the scraper blades, substantially as shown and described.

3. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, drag bars secured to said drag having hooked ends, scraper blades having perforated ears to receive the hooked ends of said drag bars, and platforms removably secured to the drag and supported by the scraper blades, substanti ally as shown and described.

4. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, drag bars secured to said drag, said drag bars c011- sisting of two parts pivotally secured together so as to be capable of adjustment in vertical planes, and scraper blades secured to said drag bars, substantially as shown and described.

5. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, drag bars secured to said drag having hooked ends, said drag bars consisting of two parts pivotally secured together so as to be capable-of adjustment in vertical planes, and scraper blades having perforated ears to receive the hooked ends of said drag bars, substantially as shown and described.

6. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, jointed drag bars secured to said drag, scraper blades secured to said drag bars, and platforms removably secured to the drag and supported by the scraper blades, substantially as shown and described.

7. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, j ointed drag bars secured to said drag and having hooked ends, scraper blades having ears to receive said hooked ends of the drag bars, and platforms removably secured to the drag and supported by the scraper blades, substantially as shown and described.

8. In a road scraper, a wheeled drag, drag bars consisting of bifurcated rods secured to the drag, other rods having a ring loop at one end and pivotally secured to the bifurcated rod, said ring loop and bifurcated rods being provided with holes that register so as to provide for articulating said drag bars, and scraper blades secured to said drag bars, substantially as shown and described.

9. A road scraper comprising an axle, wheels journaled on said aXle, bifurcated rods secured to the axle, other rods piv0t ally secured to said bifurcated rods and having a hook on one end and a ring loop on the other between the two arms of the bifurcated rod, said ring loop and arms being provided with registering holes, scraper blades, perforated ears on said blades to receive the hooked ends of the rods, spreader rods secured to said blades, and platforms secured 15 HARRISON MUCKEY.
