THEODOR CHRISTIAN SGHELD, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY.
DOOR-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 31', 1907.
Application filed February 14, 1907- Serial No. 357,233-
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODOR CHRISTIAN SGHELD, of the German Empire, residing at No. 81 1 Steinhoft, Hamburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements in Door-Holders, of which the ollowing is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a door holder which is of simple construction and permits doors and similar devices to be locked in a closed and also in a partly open position.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved door holder showing the latch partly in section, and Fig. 2 is a plan of the holder;
The door 6, is provided with a spring latch I), which has an upright perforation or socket a. At a distance above the latch b, and spaced therefrom, is the locking bolt (1, operated by a key. To the door frame f, there is pivoted a hook a, the beak of which is adapted to en age opening 0, of latch b. The co-relation 0% the parts is such that bolt (1, is pivoted to frame f, in a horizontal plane intermediate bolt d, and latch b.
In use, the door is partly opened, hook at, is brought into engagement with opening 0, of latch Z), and bolt d, is, by its key, projected over the hook, so as to lock the latter to the latch and thereby lock the door in its partly open position.
It will be seen that by my construction the latch assumes the dual function of holding the door in its closed position and also, (in conjunction with hook a), of holding the door in its partly open position.
I claim:
A door provided with a locking bolt and a perforated spring latch, combined with a door frame having a pivoted hook adapted to engage the spring latch and to be engaged lay the locking bolt, substantially as speci- In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
THEODOR CHRISTIAN SCIIELD.
