To all whom it may concern:
- Be it known that JAMES WILLIAM KENNEDY, a citizen-of the United States, residingfl at Burke, in the county of Franklin and State of New York, has invented certain new and liseful Improvements in Non- Rcfillable Bottles, of which the following is a specifica;
tion.
Thisinvention relates to bottles and more particularly to that class known as non-refillable bottles.
The object of this invention is to produce a bottle simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture,
and one that cannot'be refilled without detection.
'My invention broadly consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereafter more specifically described and fully pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig.
2 is a vertical section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
Referring specifically to the drawings the'body is indicated at 5,;having a neck portion 6, threaded as at 7. To the threaded portion 7 of the neck 6, is secured a nozzle 8, which comprises the upper and lower sections 9 and 10 respectively. The lower section 10 is internally threaded as at 11, and adapted to be screwed to the portion Z of the neck 6. A recesg 12 is formed in the section 10 and communicating therewith and with the body 5 of the bottle is a passage 13,
Extending through the passage 13 and into the bottle is a tube 14; carrying on,its lower end a spring 15 adapted to engage the lower portion 10 of the section a 10. The upper end of the tube 14- carrying a valve seat 16 to receive a ball valve 17. By thus construct;
ing the tube 14, it will be seen that it is securely locked the nozzle 10is internally threaded as at .18 ,'adapted at its upper end opens into an annular recess 2 l, into which is placed a cork or other c,osu re 22,
The section 9 is recessed as at 23 and is adapted to aline with the recess 12in the portion 10, thus forming a chamber 24 for the movement of the valves 17. I A label 25 is pasted to the nozzle 8 and over the joint formed by the sections 9 and 10, which will of course be broken in an attempt to unlock said sections.
After filling a bottle ready for the market the threads 7 on the neck 6 of the bottle are first coated with cement, the sectionlO is then screwed thereto, and its interior threads 19 coated likewise with cement, and the section 9 screwed thereto. A label is then pasted around the bottle and over the 'joints formed by the sections 9 and 10 thereof, and the bottle closed by a cork.
When it isdesired to remove the contents of the bot tle the bottle is inverted, whereupon the valve 17 will roll into the chamber 24' and the liquid through the passage 20; p The angular passage 20 prevents an attempt to tamper with the valvefl7. A piece of wire or the like which might be inserted in the passage 20 would be directed in a course away from said valve. What is claimed is: In a bottle the combination of the body portion provided with a threaded neck, a section nozzle threaded thereto, said nozzle comprising upper and lower sect'lons, the lower section having a recess formed therelnnnd a passage communicating withthe recess and with the bottle, an upper section screwed tothe lower section and having a recess adapted to aline with "seid'first mentioned recess to form a chamber, said upper sectionhavlng an angular passage therein 'in communication with. said chamber, and a valve in the chamber arranged to close the passage of the lower section.
