1'0 aZZZ wZ/Om it mct'y concern.-
Be it known that I, PATRICK ALFRED KENVNA, a subject of the Kin of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Sy ney, in the State of New South-W ales, in the Commonwealth of Australia, accountant, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Tobacco-,
Pipes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved to-' bacco pipe and has for'its object the construc tion of a pipe which will and other moisture from coming into. contact with the tobacco in the bowl so that cool complete.
bowl and stem.
and dry smoke is drawn from the mouth piece: and also that all parts of the pipe may be easily andthoroughly cleaned.
chamber is constructed to correspond with that of the stem of the pipe, while its internal contour is cylindrical. The end of the stem which fits within the saliva chamber is provided with a disk or Washer of non-absorbent material such asvulcanite, bone, metal or" the like, and a small projectin tube in communication with the bowl an having a removable bafile. The end of the mouth piece which fits within theisaliva chamber is also provided with a small projecting tube. But
in order thatthe invention may be roperly understood reference will now be ma e to'the accompanying sheet of drawings in which Figure 1 is a lon itudinal section of a pi e Fig. 2 1s a side elevationof the Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the saliva chamber removed from the stem. li .4is an end view-of same; Fig. 5 is a sid e elevation ofthe mouth piece.
(a) is the bowl of-the pipe which can be made of any desired'shapei (b) is the stem. l (a) is the condensing and saliva chamber which is open at both ends, and externally corres onds in shape with the stem. One
push joint as shown in the drawings or it may revent the salivabe screwed thereto. The other end of the chamber: is adapted ,to receive the mouth piece in the same manner.
The chamber (0) may be made of any material such as vulcanite, wood, amber, meerschaum or metal the essential being that it is removably attached to the stern; I
(d) is the bore in the stem communicating with the bowl (a). a
(a) is a small tube inserted in the stem concentrically with the bore therein and projectingtherefrom at (e).
(f) is a washer of disk-madefof non-absorbent material such at vulcanite or sheet metal. This disk is provided for the purpose of preventing the moisture which collects in the chamber (0) from penetrating thewood of the stem.
(g) is a removable baflie which fits on the end of the projecting tube (e is provided for the purpose of checking the draft and throwing the smoke into the. condensin throug the mouth piece.
This bafiie chamber prior to being drawn' (h) 1s the mouth piece and (h a projecting (c) around which it circulates and is partially condensedand cooled, the-moisture being deposited in the chamber. The smoke then asses into the mouth piece. The fsaliva from the smokers mouth will also accumulate in the chamber (0) and the projecting 'j tubes (6 and; (h will prevent the moisture thuscolle'cted from makin its way either to the bowl or into the bore'o the mouth piece.
In order to empty the condensing and sa-v liva chamber it is onl the mouth piece and all ow the moisture to run out. When it is desired to clean the pipe the chamber .is removed from thestemfand the baflie (g) from the tube (e every part of the pipe is then available fora thorough cleans- TThat I claim and desireto secure by Let- IOO ters Patent is A. tobacco pipe comprising a, bowl, a stem necessary to remove for the bowl having a bore there through com I l munieating with the chamber of the bowl, a and a mouth pieee fitted to the saliva chamtubfe fitted into the bore of the stem, a collar her having a tube projecting thereinto. 1 no for the tube intermediate the ends thereof In teetimony'whereof I aflix my signature engaging the end of the stem, a baffle supin presence of two Witnesses.
