7 Be it known that I, ARTHUR HoYr Scor'r, of the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement in Supporting Devices for Packages of Toilet Paper, of which the following is a specification. I

In Letters Patent No. 765,599, granted to me July 19, 1904, I have shown a device for supporting packages of toilet-paper in a case, consisting of a backing provided at its top with an open inverted triangular pocket adapted to receive a supporting tongue or heck of the case. v

The present invention relates to a device of this character, and consists of improve in ents in the construction of the pocket whereby greater strength and efficiency are obtained and also of improvements in the means of securing the pocket and attaching the card to the package of paper.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a package of toilet-paper having my improved suspension pocket. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the back of the suspension-card after it has been folded to form the pocket; and Fig. 8 is a plan view of the face of the card before it is folded.

I) is the backingcard, provided at its top with an open inverted pocket. This pocket is formed by folding a strip d of the card over upon itself and about the back and there securing it. The pocket thus formed has a continuous front flap E.

In the particular construction shown the card I) is cut with the strip extending at an angle h'oni the middle of the top. It is first bent on the line f at an angle corresponding with the angle of the edge g. The portion 6 beyond the bend f is folded down upon the inner end (Z of the strip, and the end i is bent at 71/ over the edge 9 and folded over upon the portion (Z and there secured. The face 6 of the pocket thus formed is continuous and without any overlapping portions or seam.

The end i being bent over and secured to the back holds the pocket securely along its edge It. The pocket thus formed is not liable to tear or become broken open.

The portion i may be secured to the back of the card by any convenient means, and any suitable means may be employed for securing the card I) with its pocket to the pack age a. For this purpose I prefer to employ a metal sheet j, having clips k k and a tongue l m. This piece j is placed on the face of the extension d of the card and the clips 7c and tongue m are passed through, one of the clips being also passed through the bent-over end i and acting, when bent down, as the means of fastening, The end of the card i is preferably extended, as at n, a substantial distance beyond the point when the clip engages. This extension n of the end lies under the paper, and thus serves to hold the end i flat and prevents tearing and loosening of the pocket.

The tongue m is passed through the package and secures it to the card I). The plate 3', with its clips, not only acts as the means for fastening the end of the pocketstrip and for attaching the card to the package, but it materially strengthens and stiflens the pocket and by uniting the clips and fastening-tongue together reduces the liability of those fastenings tearing loose.

\Vhile I speak of the backing or suspension piece I), which carries the pocket, as a card, it is to be understood that I do not mean to limit myself to the use of cardboard or to any particular material.

That I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:

1. The backing-card forpackages of toiletpaper provided at the top with an open inverted pocket formed of the material of the card and having a continuous front flap and the end beyond said front flap bent over and secured to the back of the card.

2. The backing-card for packages of toiletpaper provided at the top with an open inverted pocket formed of the material of the card and having a continuous front flap and the end beyond said front flap bent over and secured to the back of the card and extend ing down at the back to a substantial distance beyond the lower edge of the pocket.
