Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 19, 1907.
Application filed June 23, 1906. Serial No. 323,081.
To all 1117mm It "may concern.-
Be it known that I, WALTER H. humans, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Imrovements in Souvenir Postal Cards, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a souvenir postal card provided with an adjustable indicator consisting of a dial having hour and minute marks and movable hands. A calendar is also printed or placed near the dial. A picture-such, for instance, as that of a train. may be printed on the card and also directions for using or reading the card.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view of the back of the card. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 2 2 of Fig. '1.
In the drawings, refers to a postal card. On the back thereof or side opposite to which the address is to be written is printed, embossed, or pasted on the same a clock-dial 11, having the usual hour and minute indications 11 and 11 respectively, and a monthindicator 11.
12 and 13 are movable hour and minute hands. The same are riveted by an eyelet 14 to the card.
15 is a series of slots or perforations arranged circularly within the dial in line with the respective hour-marks, and these slots are intended to receive and hold the hourhand 12, which being made of soft'or pliable metal may readily be inserted in the same.
16 is a series of slots arranged similarly at a greater radius from center than the slots 15. l
These slots 16 are intended for holding and retaining the minute-hand 13 at a desired point.
A calendar 17 is preferably placed beneath the dial.
18 is a design or picture on the card.
19 refers to printed directions.
Any desirable printed matter may be placed around the dial or at other positions on the card.
In using this card the hour and minute hands have their ends inserted in slots coinciding with the hour and minute desired to be designated as indicating time of arrival, departure, &c. Pencil or pen marks are also made on the calendar and any desirable writing to give suitable information. When the hands are inserted in the slots 15 and 16, the ends of said hands are bent and clenched on the other side of the card, as shown in Fig. 2. Ihe date and day, month, &c., may be desig- Iated by a cross or check mark in the calen- I claim A postal card having a dial thereon, with holes therein corresponding to the marks on the dial, and hands pivoted on the dial and adapted to be fastened by inserting the ends thereof in the holes.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribin witnesses.
WALTER H. VILLIERS.
