Be it known that I, JOHN H. GoEHsT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi- 5 nois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Candle Base and Socket for Miniature Electric Lamps; and I do hereby declare that the following `is a full, clear, and exact description thereof,

I reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to a novel holder for I miniature electric lamps designed for attach,- ing a miniature or low-candle-powei` lamp to a standard lamp-socket and so constructed that when fitted with a lowower lamp as to simulate the appearance ci) a candle, thus 2O giving to an electric-light fixture fitted with a number of these devices a candelabruin efect.

The objects of the invention are to facilitate the connection of such a device with an electric-light bracket having a standard socket, to reduce the cost of manufacture, and to produce an exceedingly simple and durable device for the purpose specified. The invention consists in the matters hereoinafter set forth, and more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

It is often desirable on festive or other occasions to substitute for the usual lfull sixteen or other standard candle-power lam a smaller lamp set into an elongated soc et having the general conformation of'a candle, thereby ivinga candelabrum effect to the fixture. eretofore attachments of this character to chandeliers or brackets having the usual size or standard sockets to receive the ordinary candle-power lamps have been attended with considerable expense of time and labor, requiring the services of a skilled electrician to make the connection. It isthe l5o purpose of this invention to provide a device .of'this character which may be readily applied to a iittng having the usual size socket power required for general illumination.
