To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ANTON ScHRoEDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hinged Hangers, of which the following is a speclfication.

My invention relates to improvements in hinge-hangers for storm window-sash and screen-Windows, its object being to provide a simple construction of separable hingehanger which will allow free swinging and easy removal of the window from the frame, While at the same time preventing the window being jarred or blown from the frame, and which will prevent rattling or looseness of the window.

To this end my invention consists in the features of construction hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a portion of a window sash and frame fitted with my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail of the hook member of my invention, and Fig. 4 is a detail of the pintle member of my invention.

In the drawings, A represents the windowframe, and B the storm-sash fitted thereto. Secured to the outer face of the top cross-bar of the window-frame, as by means of screws 2, are the hook members C. Secured to the outer face of the sash B in position to engage with the hook members 0 are pintle members D. A air of pintle and hook members will ordinarlly be used to support both sides of the sash.

The hook member C is bent to form side flanges 3, through which the retaining-screws 2 pass, and an mtermediate outwardly-bent hook portion 4. The hook portion 4 is formed in the upper edges of its side walls with notches 5, designed to receive the upper cross-bar 6 of the pintle member D. The upper end of the pintle member D is bent outwardly, as shown best in Fig. 2, and formed with an opening 7, which receives the hook portion 4 of the hook member. The cross-bar 6 of the pintle member formed by the opening 7 is formed with a downwardlyprojecting lug or stop 8, which extends down- Wardly into the hook portion 4, as illustrated by dotted lines in Fig. 1. The lower edge of the hook portion 4 and the adjacent edge of the pintle member are chamfered to allow easy swinging of the sash.

In operation the hook and pintle members of the ban ers being secured, respectively, to the wincIow frame and sash the sash Wlll be hung by holding the sash at such upturned position that the pintle members may be connected with the hook members, the sash then dro ping to normal sus ended position. When hung, the sash wil swing freely, as illustrated in F i 2, but cannot be lifted out of the window-frame or be disengaged from the hook members unless it is opened far enough to carry the intle members entirely from under the hoo portions 4, when it can be lifted. The lugs 8 serve as stops, preventing the window from being blown or pushed outward and disengaged from the hook members, and also assist in preventing rattling, since they fit closely into the open upper ends of the hook portions 4.

I claim 1. An improved article of manufacture for storm-sash consisting of hook and pintle members, the hook member being secured to the outerface of the frame and being provided with an outwardly-bent hook portion, and the pintle member being secured to the adjacent edge of the sash, said pintle member being formed with an opening to receivesaid hook portion and with 2. lug positioned to ex tend downwardly behind said hook portion for the purpose set forth.

As an improved article of manufacture, a hinge-hanger for window-sash consisting of hook and pintle members, the hook member being secured to the outer face of the window-frame and having an outwardly-bent and vertically-hollowed hook portion, said hook portion being formed with notches in the upper edges of its side walls, the pintle member beingsecured to the adjacent edge of the sash, said pintle member being formed with an opening to receive said hook portion, and with a lug positioned to extend downwardly into said hook portion.
