Description

' UNITED 'sTA r s GEORGE ALLEN, OF GRANITE CITY, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR I HOYT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PATENT OFFICE.
TO EDWA RD R.
ALLOY.
specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 23, 1906.
. Application filed September 19,1906. Serial No. 335,190.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. ALLEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Granite City, in the county of Madison and State of Illinois,'-'have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Alloys, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptron.
My invention relates to an alloy of metals; and It has for its object to produce an alloy of such nature that it will resist greater tensile strain than other soft-metal alloys, also an alloy that will be much less subject to corrosion than those heretofore made, so far as I am aware.
My allo consists of the two metals, lead and nicke .combined in such proportions as A ing the corrodibility of the alloy.
will cause the nickel to increase the tensile strength of the alloy to the desired degree and will afford the desired property of lessen- The proportions in which the metals are used vary' W of one per cent. to three and onehalf per cent. nickel and the balance lead;
