Be it known that I, EFA A. REMUND, a citizen of the United States, residing atS okane, in the county of Spokane and State 0 Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Brackets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to'adjustable brackets for window-shades; and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide a simple and efficient adjustable bracket for Windowshades which can be quickly adjusted for shades of different lengths and which will occupy but little space and which can be manu factured at slight cost.

Another object is to provide an adjustable window-shade bracket which can be readily and easily adjusted to suit the length of roller upon which the shade is wound and which can be quickly attached to the windew-casing.

These and other objects are attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of the members of my improved window-shade bracket. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the adjustable bracket-plate and bracket. Fig. 4 is a similar view of the guide-plate of the same. Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view of the bracket.

Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of my invention, the nu- Ineral 1 designates a bracket preferably formed of sheet metal and bent at right angles from a bracket-plate 2, provided with a serrated edge 3. This bracket is adapted to slide in a guide-plate 4, secured to the window-casing by means of screws passing through the holes 5 in said plate. The upper and lower edges of the guide-plate are bent over toward each other to form a guideway for the serrated plate, the flanges 6 7 being spaced from the plate a sufficient distance to permit the serrations to slide freely therein.

The upper flange 6 is slotted, as at 8, and a spring catch or pawl 9 is connected to this flange in any suitable manner, as by cutting tongues 11 therefrom and bending said tongues around the shank of said catch. The catch is preferably formed of spring metal and is provided with a downwardly-extending finger 12, disposed in line with the slot in the flange and adapted to engage the serrations on the bracket-plate, as will be understood.

In the use of my device two of such brackets are used, one of which is provided with an open slot to receive the square pintle of the roller, while the other is provided with a round hole to accommodate the round pintle of the roller.

From the foregoing the objects and advantages of my invention may be readily understood. The brackets can be quickly adjusted to accommodate window-shades of different lengths, and by means of the springpawl the bracket-plates will be held firmly in adjusted position. The device may be made small and neat and will occupy but small space. The attaching-screws for the guideplate are entirely out of sight, and taken as a whole the device is of simple construction and of good appearance and can be manufactured at slight cost.

Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as defined by the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is

The herein-described adjustable windowshade bracket consisting of aguide-plate having inwardly-turned flanges, one of said flanges having a slot therein, a spring-pawl secured by tongues cut from said flange and bent around said pawl, one end of said pawl projecting into the slot, in combination with a bracket-plate having a serrated edge and fitted to slide in the guide, said serrated edge being engaged by the pawl, substantially as described.
