Be it known that I, PETER J. ADOLP ScnNooR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Holstein, in the county of Ida and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Condiment-Holder, of which the following is a specification. 4

This invention relates to. condiment-holders, and has for an object to provide a holder embodying new and improved features of convenience, simplicity, and eficienc A further object is to provide a ho der arranged to hold two materials in a granular form and embodying improved means whereby either separately or both mixed may be shaken from the holder.

With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In its preferred embodiment the improved condiment-holder forming the subject-matter of this application comprises a body or receptacle 10 of any approved size and form and divided into two compartments 11 and 12 by the partition 13. The partition 13 stops short of the top, forming a passage or chamber- 14 common to the two compartments and open at the top, as at 15, the opening being closed by a perforate cover 16 removable in any approved manner, as by sliding, as indicated.

The u per edge of the partition is provided With a ongitudinal concavity 17, in .which is mounted a rock-bar 18, carrying an integral wing or deflector plate 19. When in a vertical position the deiiector contacts with a cross-bar 20, whereby the compartments remain separated, but both communicate with the common chamber and discharge material from both com artments simultaneously. The passage om either compartment to the common chamber may be closed by inclining the deiiector to either side to contact with the shoulders 21 and 22, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 3.

The rock-b ar and deflector are carried upon a squared shaft 23, extending longitudinally therethrough and terminatin in trunnions 24 and 25, extendin throug the walls of and without the hol er and the latter pro'- vided with a crank or lever 26. The lever is of resilient material and extends in a plane with the deflector 19 and engages a se ment 27, provided with an engaging notc 28, positioned to hold the deflector in a vertical position, and with notches 29 and 30, positioned to hold the deflector in contact, respectively, with shoulders 21 and 22. lever is provided with any approved means for operating, as the knob or button 31, and a ilange or other operating means 32 is provided upon the perforate cover 16.

The exterior of the shaker will be provided with characters to designate the material which may be shaken from the holder with the lever at the designated points. It being supposed that salt is contained in compartment 11 and pepper in compartment 12, then the word Salt would be placed adjacent notch 30 and Pepper" adjacent the notch 29 and Mix or some equivalent word adjacent the notch 28.
