My invention relates to spiral slideways for fire-escapes and package-chutes, and has for its object to provide a switch or auxiliary chute for leading persons or packages from the slideway onto a floor or landing Intermethe switch or auxiliary chute.

A further object of my invention is to provide a removable switch or auxiliary chute which can be inserted in the casing of the slideway and onto the slideway at a point intermediate the top and bottom of the slideway, said switch or auxiliary chute being instantly removable. v
