ROTH, of B ostomin the county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful or improved Hand-Protector or Guard for Flat-Irons; and I do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following speciicationfand represented in the accompanying drawings, oi'

Figure 1 denotes a side elevation of a fiat-iron with'my guard applied to it.' Figure 2 is a top view, and. Figu-re a longitudinal and vertical section of the guard. The purpose of the said guard is to protect the hand of a person, while hold of the handle of a fiat-iron, from the heat radiated from the body of the iron, when such may be in use.

4 The body of the guard is-a flat shield, A, having the general'form of the Hat-iron body, it being constructedwith a ange or lip, a, to extend around its edge, and downward therefrom. It also has feet or projections, b 6, extended from it, and to rest on the top surface of the body c of the'liat-iron B. i
