CURTAIN HANGER. APPLICATION FILED APR 22,1905.

6 I /2 2 W1 nv ss s; 2 [JVVE/VTOR ANTHONY J. CULTURE, OF CHICAGO. ILLINOIS.
CURTAIN-HANGER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 10, 1905.
Application filed April 22, 1905. Serial No. 256,904.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY J. CULTURE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicage, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a device for hanging curtains, shades, and the like, and has ornamental features in addition to the functions of concealing the hanging devices for the curtain and an adjustability which will allow it to be applied to windows of different sizes.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a top view. Fig. 8 is a rear elevation.
Referring specifically to the drawings, 6 indicates a middle piece, and 7 indicates angular end pieces adjustable with respect thereto. These parts are preferably made of wood to form a frame or cornice, which is supported upon the head of the window-frame conveniently by hooks or loops 8 on the end pieces, these hooks being designed to rest upon the head of the window-frame and be secured by screws or nails. The end pieces 7 fit against the back of the middle piece 6 and are slidable laterally with respect thereto under guide-straps 9 at the ends of the middle piece. The inner ends of the end pieces 7 are slotted, as at 10, to receive a rib or fin 11, projecting from the rear side of the middle piece. This sition.
of this frame or cornice by hooks or any other desired means. I prefer to use a series of double-roller hangers consisting of a pair of rollers 12, suspended by hangers 13 and provided with sliding rings 1% to clamp the rollers together. In use the upper edge of the curtain is tucked between these rollers and the rings l-L pushed down to clamp the curtain. This holds with suflicient strength to support the curtain, but will allow the same to slip out should it he accidentally pulled or trod upon. This prevents injury to the curtain, which is apt to occur when hooks or rods are used.
The device provides a neat and simple hanger for curtains, and its ad justability allows it to be applied to windows of various width. The hanging means for the curtains are concealed, and the ornamental appearance is advantageous.
IVhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A curtain-hanger comprising a frame, aseries of attaching devices each consisting of a pair of rollers, hangers hung from the frame and on which the rollers are mounted, and rings on the hangers to clamp the rollers.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ANTHONY J. CULTURE.
