To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that l, JOSEPH SAoHs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hartford,
more space than is or would be occupied by the fuse-terminal itself; and the object of my invention is to produce a terminal for safetyfuses adapted to receive and have electrically connected thereto the safety-fuse terminals, which are preferably of the blade type and provided with, line-terminals or means for receiving and electrically contacting with the ends of the line-wires directly beneath the contacts with the fuse-terminals, so that the area occupied by the connections between the fuse-terminals and the line-wires is no greater than that taken up by each of the safety-fuse terminals, and consequently this area occupied is reduced to a minimum.
In carrying out my present invention I provide a safety-fuse terminal comprising means for receiving and making electrical contact with the terminals of a safety-fuse device, means directly beneath the aforesaid means for receiving the ends of line-wires, and means for making electrical contact between the ends of the line-wires andthe last aforesaid means, all of which will be hereinafter more particularly described.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of my improved terminal, showing the same mounted on a block and having a fuse device connected thereto; and Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively a plan and end elevation of the same.
Referring to Figs. 1, 2, and 3, arepresents a block of brass, copper, or other material of good conductivity and provided with a central circular opening 2, extending from one end of the block to the other and of the same diameter throughout. One side of the block is divided or cut through at 3 and provided with lugs 4:, through which bolts 5 are passed,

and the opening 2 is adapted to receive an end of the line-wire or cable or a sleeve 6, into which the line-wire or cable is passed and secured, the function of the screws 5 being to connect and bind the sleeve 6 or the end of the line-wire or cable to and within the block a. The bottom of the block a is adapted to receive the ends of screws 6, by means of which the block is secured to a suitable base 0, and the top of the block is provided with a stud-bolt d and a nut 6, having an integral flange e. The fuse device f to be used in conjunction with my improved terminal is provided with blade-terminals f f each having a central aperture adapted to receive the stud-bolt 01, so that a fuse-terminal may be secured to the block a by the nut e and its flange e. A block similar to the one just described is secured at the other end of the base 0 in such a position as to receive the opposite blade-terminal f of the fuse device and to have connected thereto the end of the other line-wire or cable.
I claim as my invention 1. The combination with a common base, of blocks having openings to receive lineterminals and divided or cut through at oneside and having flat tops, means for connecting the blocks to the common base as spaced apart, means for clamping the blocks at their cut-through portions, a fuse device having projecting terminals, and means for securing the terminals of the-fuse device to and upon the flat tops of the said blocks directly above the line-wire terminals.
2. The combination with a common base, of blocks having openings 7 to receive lineterminals and divided or out through at. one
side and having flat tops, means for connecting the blocks to the common base as spaced apart, means for clamping the blocks at their cut-through portions, an inclosed fuse device having projecting flat blade-terminals at the ends which are in a common plane and adaptedto rest upon the flat tops of the blocks, and bolts or equivalent devices for connecting and firmly securing the fuse device at its terminals to the blocks directly above the line-terminals.
