Speciication of LettersPatent No. 7,918, dated January 28, 1851.
To all whom t may concern I Be it known that I, WILLIAM FIELDS, Jr., of the city and county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Improvement to the Hydraulic Ram; and I do hereby declare that the foll lowing is a full, clear, and exact description materials which valve by closing on the rep Vitnesses action of the water in the drive-pipe, prevents the said reaction from disturbing the wat-er in the `spring or reservoir. `The box of said valve is bolted'to the drive-pipe as represented in the annexed drawing7 and said valve may be a hinge valve or any other suitable valve. i l
For the more `clear and `certain understanding of the drawings, I would state,
that A, represents the water of the spring l or reservoir; B, the darn; C, the valve for which I desire a patent; C, D, the inclinedplane or drive-pipe; E, the air-chamber of the ram; F, the waste-water valve.
