TO ALL WI-IOM IT MAY' CONCERN v Be it known that I, FRANZ RUDOLH VEGMAN, of the Kingdom of Snxony, have invented a new and useful Wire-Spring-Mattress; 'end I' do hereby declare that the following is a. full, Clear, and exaet deseriphion of'th'e v same, referenee hein'g hnd to the aecompahying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 shows :L side view of the* Wine-spring mattress stretched upon its frmne. Figure' 2 shows a section across the mettressend frame, from' side to side. k Figure 3shows en cnlm ged view of the wire braidng ef'which the mattress is formed. f My invention consists in oonstrueting r. mattress of Spiral Wii-e ,srngs, linked or hraided together, 'and vstretched upon a fronie, so 'as to form a, spring-bed. r r
- The springs are made ofisteel or Other wire, n'ouxd into a Spiral ;form by proper machinery und' linked. l v together,- so that' eneh eonvolution 'of thefispring pansses through twozor more ef -the tidjoining Springs, as shown:
iB-, nfigi l v fi The spirnl wi e Springs will ordinurily he ar anged deuhle fas shown at B in fig. 3 thnt isfeonsisting et' two series of Springs interworen together, so as to form one web of.woven1vire. This can extend over the Whole mattress, or only across the top, where the principal stra-in c0m^est he sides being in ade in some other way; it' desired, as shown nt A, fig. ,3. gret-ernumber oi' spirels een be linked together, if desired, to give a greater Strength and stiffness to the 'web of braided wire. l j
The iron. framm upon .which the Springs :tre stretched consists of two parallel engle-irons C C, connected hy four round hers D G. At the head and foot are'vertical frames, to which the ends Of-the spirls are a firmly attached' l k F' The side spirels are :attached to the bars C C by en rod run through the Outside'spirah and seeured by smpes, er otherwise, to the angle-rena C C. The wire mattress ismade several inehes short-er than the frame, so that it CCLD. he stretched over it. After the ends of the eoils are firmly secured to the head end foot of' the frnme the mnttress is stretehed, hy inserting the struts H II, which rest against the top corners of the frztme, nd against thoroundbars E and F.
My invention een also he used for enshions to sofas, lounges, chairs,ozany other articles of furniture to Which npringushions are applieeble.
I i Ulaz'ms;
Amettress or eushion, eoniposed of spil-al wire lsprings, braided (or linked together in two or more seriesrsoas 'to form one connected web of WOi/'On wine, -substentially as herein described. l
2. The combination of the struts HH With. mettress' of Wii-'e Springs, substentially as described, for the .purpose of -stretchng it and rendering it more elnstic. v
What I-cleim as m invention, and desire to secure by Letters Putent, is
: FRNZ' RUDOLPH WEGMAN.
