To all whowt it may concern.-

Be it known that I, PETER HENRICH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of'King and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collapsible Berry-Boxes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to collapsible boxes used-for the purpose of containing berries or the like for display or shipment; and the object of the invention is to provide a box of this description which will be of simple and inexpensive construction.

The nature and characteristics of the invention will be understood from the following description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is a distendedor'face view of a blank from which the sides and ends of the box are formed. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the box-bottom blank. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the box-bottom, shown with its ends folded down ready for insertion into the slots provided therefor in the box ends, and Fig. 4: shows in perspective the assembled or complete box. Referring to the said drawings by reference-letters, A denotes the blank from which the sides and ends of the box are formed by bending the same at the vertical lines X, thus making a rectangular shell with side walls B and front and back walls C and D, respectively.

The back wall is made by interfitting and overlapping the two ends of this blank, and for which purpose I form one of the overlapping parts with a tongue d and the other end bifurcated-that is to say, with two protruding tongues d. An incision e is made in the tongue d in proximity of its root, and in like manner an incision e is made in the upper one of the tongues 03, so that they interfit thereat and act to lock the overlapping parts of the back together.

Two parallel slots f and f are provided in the side walls adjacent of their lower edges, and the uppermost slots f are so disposed that their upper edges will be below a line or plane projected through the bottom edge of the tongue 62? and the top edge of the lower of the tongues d, so that when the box is assembled the back edge h of the bottom H will prevent the said lower tongue from springing inwardly. This bottom part of the box is folded down at the lines indicated by y in Fig. 2 to provide pendent ends it, and which ends are preferably diminished in width toward their outer edges, so that'they can be more readily introduced into the said slots provided for to ship the boxes to a distance, and to economize space the blank A can be advantageously folded and connected and then collapsed by drawing either of the two diagonally opposite corners together, allowing the consignor to distend the same and afterward place the bottoms therein.

The advantages of the invention reside in its simplicity and perfect adaptation to the purposes of the invention.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A box of the character described, comprising in combination an integral piece forming the sides, front and back walls of the box, and provided with overlapping ends, one of said overlapping ends being provided with a tongue having an incision on one edge at the root of the tongue, the other end being formed with two protruding tongues, one 'of said tongues having an incision at its root, the side walls being each provided with two parallel slots, and a bottom having its ends protruded outwardly through the upper slots and thence inwardly through the lower slots, the back edge of the bottom bearing against the lower of said last-named tongues to prevent the same springing inwardly.
