TICKET-CASE.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 794,397, dated July 11, 1905.
Application filed January 6,1905. Serial No, 239,871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RENE DORN, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing in the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improved Ticket-Case, of which the following is a specification.
This invention comprises a simple and convenient case or receptacle for holding tickets (such as are issued by the elevated railroad companies of New York city) printed on a continuous strip and indented or perforated on the lines of subdivision. Such ticket-strips folded zigzag or alternately in reverse direction are placed in the case, which is so constructed that the several tickets may one by one be drawn out and severed from the following one. Such devices have heretofore been proposed; but none such have, so far as I am aware, been constructed like that herein described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view; Fig. 2, a longitudinal vertical section; Fig. 3, a plan with the cover elevated, and Fig. 4 a transverse section on the line I 4 of Fig. 1.
This device consists of a shallow oblong rectangular box (0, having hinged to it at I) a cover I). The front wall a is lower than the others, and from it extends a partition 0, that finally curves downward at 0 against the boxbottom, thus forming a chamber cZ for reception of the folded tickets 00, and a channel 0 between 0 and the box-top, which opposite such channel has an opening 5 formed in it. The folded strip of tickets having been placed in the box and the outermost one laid in the channel 0 as shown in Fig. 2, the cover is closed. By pressure and thrust of the thumb through opening 6 the ticket may be readily forced beyond the edge of the box and may then be pulled out and severed from the following ticket by drawing against the sharp edge of either the cover or box.
'The slight strain exerted upon the strip draws the package against the wall 0 and causes the unfolding of the top ticket of the package. The curve at the upper end of 0' reduces friction and eliminates liability of the tickets catching thereon and tearing.
This device is of most simple structure, may be made very cheaply, and has been shown by experience to be most eflicient and convenient.
I claim as my invention A ticket-case consisting of a box divided by a partition having a downturned portion 0 extending to the bottom of the box to form a chamber cl for the package of tickets and a scribed my name.
