`MPROVEllllN'l IN WATER-INDICATORS FOR STEAM-GENERATORS.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Be it known that I, WILLIAM MQORE, of Kokomo, in. the county of Howard, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Water-Governor for Steam-Boilers and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to'the accompanying drawingshand let-ters of reference marke-d thereon, which will enable others skilled in theart to inake and use the same.

Figurel is a side elevation, Figure 2 a longitudinal section, Figure 3 a. section o t` valve, and Figure 4 a transverse section. Like figures denote. the same parts. The object of this invention is fo so regulate the amountcf steam admitted to the pistons of the steampumps, as to malte them self-regulating, that is, to caus the pumps to supply more water when more water is needed, and less when less is needed. This I do by connecting rods or levers to a float in s. peculiar manner. This is an appendage to my improvements in automatic steam-boiler feeders, and are auxiliaries of each other. Fig. 1 shows the general shape of my apparatus. E is an index-hand or lever, balanced by a weight, and indicating by a dial the amount of water in the boiler.

Fig. 2 shows Vthe manner of 'connecting the di'erent rods or levers to the float in the boiler with the hollow valve Y, which works up and down in the sleeve o o oo. E is the pipe conveying steam t'o the pumps. The valve has side apertures or slots S, andas the water riseslirrtlie boiler, there is less of the aperture opposite to the reeeivingpipe E', and' consequently less steam will be admitted to the pumps, and they in consequence will l supply less water, and as the 'water gets lower in the boiler, the reverse of this is true.

4 shows the manner of attaching the apparatus to a steamboiler,"and also the alarm-arrangement, which is the same as that described in thc application for my automatic boiler-feeder. v

Having'thus fully described the nature of my said invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The arrangement ofthe hollow valve Y, with its side apertures S, the sleeve o -o, connecting-'rod R, lever D, and the floatland its rod B, all constructed, arranged, 'and operatingsubstantially in the manner herein specified.
