Be it known that I, LnoroLD lsMEn, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at "West Liberty, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Clothes-Holding Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to certain new `and useful improvements in clothes-holding devices, and more particlarly to that character of devices which are adapted to be used in connection with the clothes of a bed or a crib.

The object of this invention is to providea device of the above character whi h is particularly adapted for acrb, and as such l have provided novel means in connection with the crib forretaining the covers of the crib upon an infant lying' in the same.

Another object of this invention is to provide a novel form of clothes-holder for cribs which can be easily and quickly placed in position after the infant has been placed in the crib, the holder being so constructed that it will permit the infant to move and the covers may adjust themselves upon the infant to any position in which the infant may lie.

W ith the above and other objects in view reference will be had to the drawings accmpanying this application, wherein like numerals of reference designate corres pending parts throughout the several views, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of a crib, illustrating my improved clothes-holder as used in connection therewith. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the crib. Fig. 3 is a similar view of a portion of the crib. 1l is a detail perspective view of the ends of a bar used in connection with the crib, and Fig. 5 is a side elevation view of one of the adjustable members of the crib.

ln order to thoroughly demonstrate the manner in which my improved clothes-holder is used, l have illustrated the same in connection with acrib l, having' side rails or frames 2 2 and end rails or frames 3 3. The side rails or frames 2 2 intermediate their ends are provided with rollers e 4, and upon the inner sides of the rails 2 2, preferably near the top thereof, I mount the removable rods 5 5 and 6 6. The ends of these rods are mounted in the end rails or frames 3 3. The ends of one of these rods is illustrated in Fig. l of the drawings, and the one end is cut away, as indicated at 7, to form a tongue 8, while the other end thereofl is provided with a cut-away portion 9 on one of its faces and a slot or groove 10 on another of its faces, this slot and cutaway portion terminating at the end of the rod. The rods 5 5 and 6 6 serve as guides, and the rods 5 5 are mounted directly above the rods 6 6, forming a vertical passage hetween the rods 5 and (3 and the sido rail 2 on each side of the crib. To mount the rods 5 5 in the crib, l have provided the top rail 11 of the end frame with a slot 12in its face fronting toward the other end of 'the crib. The top face of the rail l1 is also provided with a slot 14, communicating with the slot 12. At one end of the slot 12 is pivoted a bar 15, having a beveled end 16, and the outer face of this bar is provided with a suitable knob 17. The top rail 18 of the end frame 3' is provided with recesses 19, and to secure therods 5 5 in the crib the operation is follows: rEhe ends of the rods 5 5 carrying the tongues 8 are placed in the recesses 19, and the opposite end of the rod is seated in the slots 12 and 14, the cut-away portion 9 of the rod permitting of the end of the rod to rest upon the one side of the slot l2, while that portion of the end of the rod which extends into the slot 12 is also seated in the slot 14. To secure this end of the rod in the slots 12 and 14, the har 15 is swung inwardly from the position illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings, whereby the end of the rod 5 is impinged within the slots by the bar 15, the knob 17 being used, whereby the bar may be conveniently removed from the slot 12, in which it snugly fits.

in order to mount the bars 6 6 in the crib, .i have provided the blocks 2O 20 in the end frame 3 and the blocks 21 21 in the end frame 3. The blocks 2O 2O are provided with recesses similar to the recesses 19, and the blocks 2l are provided with slots 22 in which the ends of the rods 5 rest, and in order to secure these ends within the slots i have provided the directly above the slidably-mounted blocks 23 blocks 21, whereby the blocks 23 will rest upon the ends of the rods 6 6 and prevent them from becoming detached trom the end frame 3 unless the blocks 23 are manually raised.

Besides the construction just described in connection with the sides and ends of the Crib l employ substantially U-shaped members 25 which eonsistot' bars 26 and u pwardly-extending rods 27. It will be observed lrom the foregoing description, taken in connection with the drawings1 that li have provided novel means in oonneetion with a erib whereby the infant lying in the same Can readily move without becoming` uncovered or displacing the covers from the position in which they were first placed. rlhe members 25 25 being adjustably mounted in the vertical passage formed between the rods 5 and 6 and the side frames, the weight of these members is adapted to retain the edges ot' the covers upon an infant lying in the crib, and the end of the covers will be retained by the weight of the member at the foot ot' the Crib.

It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing` from the general spirit and scope of the invention.
