Description

No. 778,308. PATENTED DEG.27,190%. e. H. DAYGzF. J. STEIN.
THERAPEUTIC ELECTRODE.
APPLICATION FILED JULY 13. 1904.

GEORGE H. DAY AND FRANK J. STEIN,
OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY.
THERAPEUTIC ELECTRODE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 778,308, dated December 27, 1904.
Application filed July 13, 1904. Serial No. 216,317.
I To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, GEORGE H. DAY and FRANK J. STEIN, citizens of the United States, residing in Louisville, in the county of J efferson and State of Kentucky, have invented a new Therapeutic Electrode, of which the followlng is a specification.
ur invention relates to improvements in therapeutic electrodes for the application to the human body and to different parts thereof of high-frequent electric currents and through the agency of such currents the introduction to and into the human body and difierent parts thereof of antiseptics or other chemicals or formozone, formaldozone, or other gases which are produced within the receptaole hereinafter referred to-for instance, ozone introduced in receptacle containing formaldehyde, producing the chemical composition of formaldehyde-ozone or formozone. We obtain these objects by a mechanism or device illustrated in the accompanying drawing when operated in connection with electric generators, resonators, or other apparatus by which highfrequent electric currents are produced.
In the illustration a sectional view of our machine is given, showing all of its parts.
A represents the receptacle open atone end, B, and having different-shaped mouths or lips,
so as to better fit against or connect with the ders, &c.
various parts of the bodyas, for instance, the breast, the throat, the back, the hip, shoul- The other end, of the case or receptacle,
in which a non-conducting plug D, through 0, is closed except for an aperture- G, which hold cotton or other absorbent material and which is saturated with chemicals. At the outer end of the metal rod E is a set- *screw or aperture for the attachment of the conductor of the electric current, and in the plug D is a set-screw for holding the adjustable metal rod E at such distance from the body as may be determined to be for the best advantage.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isz- 1. The combination, in therapeutic electrodes, of the receptacle, preferably of glass, shaped at one end so as to fit neatly against the body, with a conducting-rod, with disk, having projecting points, from which the electric currents are discharged, and to which may be attached absorbent stantially as set forth.
2. In therapeutic electrodes, the combination of an adjustable rod with discharging disk and points, in a receptacle or vessel of proper construction, so arranged that absorbent material may be attached and held in desired position, on which formaldehyde or other chemicals may be deposited, and through which may be passed electric currents, thus producing formaldozone or'formozone, for the purpose of scientific medication, all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof we have signed our names to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
