" Be it known that we, E. E'LAGY and D. K. WOODBURY, of])anvil 1e,-vin the county of Vermillion, and inl the State 'of Illinois,"huv:e invented certain new and usefullmprovements in Homes;v and do hereby declarel that the following is a full,.elear, ond exact descriptionl thereof, reference 'being had to the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon.

In the-annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, A represents the lower part of aharnes 11i-'tde of' wood, and in the form shown, so asto correspond with the form' and shape of 'a horse-collar, and {it-thereon.A

The part A isprovided with the uslual'strip, or plate and loop, at its lower eirtremity, and with hold-hackri'ngxs, as is fully shown. The corners of the outside of thevpiece A are cut away, ris-vis shown, leavingashoulder or tongue on its outside. The plate for securing the loop 'ab ythe lower end is scr'ewed to the piece'Aand vextends up the whole length otvsoidpiece and bent over the ends thereof. The upper partot the' plate, as

C represents a metallic slidingplate, made slightly curved, so as vtoA correspond with the upper end of o,

Having thus .fully describ ed our intention, what we clairn as new, and desire t o secure by 'Letters Patent, is; The adjustable metallic plate' C, provided with L-sliaped ears, a: se, which project beyond 'and'under the stationary plate B, and work in vertical grooves `in the wooden homes A, all constructed, arranged, 'and operatlng as set forth. l
